Who wants an unbelievably cute, sweet and equal parts talented red mare to develop? Last night I posted a few pictures of this beautiful filly for the first time and a good friend of mine, who it turns out is also her breeder, reached out to say how much she loves Sling and that she's so glad I got her as she finished her racing career. I got a bunch of adorable pictures and video of her and a rave review. Then a vet was here doing a ppe this morning and his tech used to work at the same farm so I got a whole nother batch of insanely cute pictures from her and more stories of her overwhelming cuteness. I love it when I get to know the whole story on a horse. Sling has settled into life here and has been wonderful to handle on the ground and from the tack.

Miss Sling Shot had her second post track ride this morning and was just lovely. She's starting to understand the contact, lovely movement, great balance and it never hurts to be pretty too. Please watch her videos with the volume on for complete details about her rides. Sling has no vices and no injuries. Her legs are perfectly clean and straight and she has nice looking feet. I've yet to see Sling make a grumpy face. She is very people oriented and friendly. She's a perfect prospect for someone who wants super duper clean, kind and talented... keeping in mind that she's a 3yo with just 3 career starts so she's a total lime green, green bean. She's appropriate for a rider who has experience developing young/green horses and plans to do so with time and patience.

I have this absolutely gorgeous new red mare in the barn. I'm actually partial to red mares... something about them, we tend to get along. Lilmisslingshot is a 16/16.1h 3yo TB mare by Irish War Cry (Curlin) and she just wrapped up a very uneventful racing career where she never came close to breaking her maiden in 3 career starts. She had her first post track ride yesterday and we didn't do too much, I just let her have the time to take it all in. I'm hoping to have another sit tomorrow and get some more proper video. Breeze had an excellent ride out in the field today. He's been here for nearly 2 weeks now and continues to be nothing but a class act. Breeze was not bothered by the traffic or anything else out there. He's so so light in the bridle that I'm working on having him not so much on it. I want him to be responsible for his own balance and rhythm first and foremost. He makes a beautiful shape effortlessly and I thought the canter work was his best yet.

Breeze has an old, set, cold osselet LF that is not going to bother him in any non racing career. He really doesn't give me UL vibes anyway so if you're looking for your next 2/3/4/5* horse, thats not this guy. What he does want to do is be your mid level eventer, fox hunter, hunter champion, and trail riding buddy. I don't think it will take very long until he feels like a packer. You can find lots of photos of all his legs and feet in his flickr album (which is linked to my website houndrunfarm.com). Breeze has no vices and is a total lover of attention and interaction. He has been wonderful to work with on the ground and in the tack. He is turning out in a big field with a buddy now and absolutely loving it.

I'm excited about Whiz because he is starting to understand how to use his topline a bit now. He has lovely natural movement and suspension that will really be wow when he figures out how to use himself correctly. Of course, that also takes a lot of strength and training so it's not like I expect him to come out abracadabra, got it!, but it is really fun to see little glimmers of progress as they pop up. Whiz is funny because for a big horse with lots of movement he really takes a lot of leg. He is only wanting to travel with as much enthusiasm as you are wanting to produce. His canter is really super- balanced and uphill. Please watch his videos with the volume on for complete details about his rides.

Breeze came out for his second post track ride, with the hind shoes off, and that made a world of difference for him, so much more comfortable. On his first ride he kept getting stuck in the footing behind with the big grabs on so we pulled the shoes as soon as I got off. I'm sure that now he has a little adjusting to being barefoot behind to do but it was a huge improvement from what we previously had. This horse is a total professional. He goes about his work like the gentleman he is. He is really soft in the bridle and quiet in his brain. He's not the fanciest mover in the world but with his mellow disposition and handsome looks he really doesn't need to be. He's going to be a fabulous partner for someone who wants to do go do fun things.
