Shtarker - 16h 5yo TB gelding by Flintshire. https://www.pedigreequery.com/shtarker3

Tark came out for his second ride yesterday and boy, this kid makes a beautiful shape. I need to tell Billy to take a few less pictures the next time out, Tark's flickr album is very full right now lol but in all seriousness, not a bad problem to have. His second ride is here: https://youtu.be/XgBhSbDodwQ and as always, please watch his videos with the volume on for complete details. Shtarker has no vices and no injuries. He's a super athletic, lovely moving type who is ideal for someone wanting a talented prospect to develop up the levels.

Unreachable U - 16h 3yo TB mare by Uncle Lino.

If you liked Sedenya, another lovely 3yo I had a few weeks ago, you should absolutely check out Lulu.

I'm not creative when it comes to names and I prefer to call them by some derivative of their JC names to keep it simple and sensical but nothing about this name rolls off the tongue so we're going with "Lulu" for this pretty girl. Lulu is a stunning unraced 3yo. She has a handful of published works spanning from last summer through this spring so she is RRP eligible. She wasn't training impressively and then her shins started getting a little sore (very normal for 2 and 3yo's) so her connections decided to pull the plug and I'm so glad they did because she is going to be such a phenominal sport horse. She gave me a lovely first post track ride today, the type of ride that made me rethink why I don't often have unraced three year olds lol but I have to remind myself that she is the exception, not the norm. I'll tell you, it's easy to get quickly spoiled with a young horse like this. She has gorgeous way of going, super canter, great brain and to me, there's just nothing not to love here.

Lulu has no injuries (a little bit of sore shins from race training isn't an injury, please chat with an educated vet on racehorses if you don't believe me) and perfectly clean, straight legs. She also has nice looking feet. Lulu is a mild cribber. I say mild because I've only seen her crib a little when she's eating her grain, none in turnout, etc. I don't use a collar because it doesn't bother me but I'm sure that would easily squash it if it did bother you. She has been excellent from the tack and to work with on the ground. Lulu stands very well on crossties for grooming, tacking, bathing and the farrier. She was also excellent and patient at the mounting block this morning. I'm not quite sure on pr*cing for her, I suspect I have her undervalued at the moment (Billy definitely made sure to tell me so lol). I still have a waitlist (I think I'm down to 4?) so I need to keep horses moving along to their new homes and humans.

I'm pretty excited about this lovely horse. He's exactly what I hoped he would be with his breeding... he's sporty, uphill, athletic, makes super nice shape, great canter & movement in general - all the fun things I like in a horse. This is just his first post track ride which, I think, is wildly impressive. Shtarker only had 9 career starts, so very lightly raced, and his last was actually the end of last year as a 4yo. He wasn't running competitively, the retirement made perfect sense. His connections decided to keep him on as a pony horse which he was doing quite well with and I have a cool clip of him ponying in his flickr album (linked through my website). That clip made me decide he has two really important things a) a great canter and b) a super brain. I'm hoping to have a quick follow up ride on him tomorrow just to see the improvement from ride one to two, I suspect he won't disappoint. As always, please watch his videos with the volume on for complete details on his rides.

As one would expect from a lightly raced 5yo, his legs are perfectly clean and he has nice looking feet too. Shtarker has no known injuries and no vices. He's been wonderful to work with on the ground and there is some crosstie footage at the end of his ride video. He's a huge fan of any and all treats, not a picky eater at all lol and he's very sociable. We bailed on getting confo pix done today after a very half hearted try. The humidity and flies here are out of control, it just wasn't going to happen. We'll try early tomorrow morning. Shtarker is a talented type of horse. He's a great prospect for someone who has some higher ambitions. There's nothing tricky or quirky about him.

Afleet Vintage - 16h 5yo TB gelding by Alfeet Alex. https://www.pedigreequery.com/afleet+vintage

Vintage came back out for his second ride today, I wanted to see if we could build on where we'd left off the day before. It's actually amazing how much improvement can be made from one ride to the next, in just 24 hours. I always feel so much more prepared with a game plan for the second ride and I'm sure the horses feel much more at ease about expectations. Vintage was superb. He has such a lovely canter which he really showed off today along with some great transitions. I think it's crazy just how soft and steady in the bridle he is for just a second post track ride. The word that defines him is just that he's super rideable. He has a non reactive outlook on life in general and that gives him a very calm and easy going nature when you're in the tack.

Vintage has no vices, no injuries, clean straight legs and fantastic feet. Check out his flickr album (linked through my website) for close up pix. He stands perfectly on crossties for all grooming, tacking, bathing and the farrier. He got his first hot shoes on this morning and we took a little clip of that (it's in his youtube playlist). I picked him up myself so I'm sure he loads and travels well. He was extremely well loved and cared for by his racing connections and they would like to be able to follow him in his next career.

Vintage is an excellent first restart for someone because of how non reactive and happy to slow down at all times he is. Basically - he's as simple as they come. When I say that, I just want to be clear that I don't mean he is appropriate for a beginner or timid rider, none of my right off the tracks are. He is a quiet, easy going type who wants a rider with a good balance and an eduacated soft feel. It has absolutely nothing to do with how high you're jumping or not, what level you've competed to or how long you've been riding for. Having a trainer in your corner is always a wise idea too (said by someone who spends thousands of dollars a year on lessons and coaching, I'm right there with you).

Vintage is a wicked handsome, easy going type of horse. He had his first post track ride today and was as quiet as I suspected he would be after our ground work session we'd done the day before. I discovered that to keep him moving in a super slow western jog type trot I had to work 2x harder then him and by the end I felt I'd done a 20 minute HIIT workout while he was hardly breathing lol from the tack it was a similar situation 🙂 finally, I picked up a stick and got him properly in front of the leg with a few taps, motoring up to the contact a bit and he makes a really lovely shape with a nice soft contact. Best believe, I'll be coming out more propared from the start the next time out. It was so digustingly hot and humid here today, we were both drowning in sweat so it was time to be done after the canters.

Zirconia - 16h 3yo TB mare by Silver State (Hard Spun). https://www.pedigreequery.com/zirconia10 She is on the market for ✌🥕🥕🥕.

Zirconia had her second ride yesterday, with just one lunge session with equipment in between rides to help her figure out the contact and that sure did wonders for her. She is a gorgeous little mare and when she gets the contact right she makes a really wow shape. She really pops out and catches the eye. Zirconia is on the market in the low four figures to reflect her RF osselet which is set and cold. She is perfectly sound and not bothered by it. I am aiming her at a more mid level career because of it, expectations to about 1m are very reasonable for her. The films are publically available in her flickr album which is linked to my website, houndrunfarm.com.
