🐸🌽 A Go Big Ribbit Football Philosophy 🌽🐸
First things first:
We’re Husker fans.
Not “Nebraska and…” fans.
Not “my real team is…” fans.
Nebraska comes first. Always.
That said, college football is more fun when you have a few teams to casually follow and a few teams you enjoy rooting against.
When Nebraska is playing, I’m all Husker.
When Nebraska isn’t playing…
🏈 I’m curious to see what North Dakota State does moving up to FBS this year. They’ve got some old-school, physical football in them that reminds me of the way Nebraska used to play.
✈️ I always check on Air Force. I’ve been to a game, have family connections there, and the Zoomies are just fun to watch.
⚔️ I check on Oklahoma. Not because I’m a Sooners fan, but because some rivalries are built more on respect than hate.
☘️ Notre Dame? Beautiful campus. Not really for them. Not really against them. I still end up checking the score because they are a Catholic institution, and since I’m an ordained Deacon of the Catholic Church, I should probably keep an eye on them..
🌽 And sometimes I’ll watch Indiana and pretend they’re 1995 Nebraska.
🚀 UCF? That’s where things get complicated.
I still check on Scott Frost.
I don’t know if I’m rooting for him.
I don’t know if I’m rooting against him.
It’s kind of like checking up on an ex. You’re not getting back together, but you’re still curious how things are going.
Now for the other side of the equation.
There are teams I’ll casually watch.
And there are teams I’ll actively root against.
🐃 Colorado.
🤘 Texas.
If they’re losing, I consider that a pleasant bonus to my Saturday.
As for the NFL, I’m a Broncos fan.
But if the Broncos can’t win it all, I wouldn’t mind seeing Buffalo finally get their first Super Bowl.
That’s my football season in a nutshell.
Nebraska first.
Everybody else somewhere after that.
