Are we voting “YES or “NO” in the upcoming millage renewal. Where does your property tax dollar actually go?

Using data from the Lafourche Parish Assessor’s Office, see a breakdown showing how every $100 of property tax revenue is distributed in South Lafourche (Ward 10 / Fire District #3).

The largest shares go toward:
🏫 Schools
🚔 Law Enforcement
🚒 Fire Protection
🌊 Levee Protection

Sources:
• 2025 LPAO Millage Rate Sheet
• 2024 Lafourche Parish Tax Structure Packet

*as the graphic says this is prior to any exemptions but percentages stay the same.

Figures are based on published millage rates and represent the distribution of every $100 collected in property taxes.

🗳️ “What’s your message to the people who are planning to vote NO on everything?”

That was the question posed to Lafourche Parish President Mitch Orgeron during his appearance on the Group Chat Podcast.

In this clip, Orgeron discusses the upcoming millage renewals, explains how parish government says property tax dollars are distributed, breaks down the estimated annual cost of the proposed renewals for homeowners, and shares his perspective on why he believes voters should understand exactly what services are funded before casting their ballots.

Whether you support the renewals, oppose them, or are still undecided, this conversation focuses on the importance of understanding what is being voted on and how those decisions could impact parish services.

🎙️ Group Chat Podcast – Season 2, Episode 5
“Lafourche Parish President Mitch Orgeron Enters the Group Chat”

Watch, listen, learn, and decide for yourself

This is one of the biggest episodes we’ve ever produced. We talked major issues but we also had some fun.

For the first time in Group Chat Podcast history, we welcomed Lafourche Parish President Mitch Orgeron into the studio for an in-depth conversation about the future of our parish.

No headlines. No Facebook rumors. No second-hand information.

Just a direct conversation with the man leading Lafourche Parish.

One of the biggest topics discussed was the upcoming Building & Maintenance Millage Renewal. Whether you plan to vote YES or vote NO, we encourage everyone to do the same thing first:

Get informed.

President Orgeron sat down and explained exactly what this millage funds, why parish government believes it is necessary, and what the potential impact could be if it fails. From keeping critical government facilities operational to maintaining essential services that residents depend on every day, he broke down the details in a way that anyone can understand.

We know there are strong opinions on all sides of this issue, and that’s okay. Our goal isn’t to tell you how to vote, it’s to help make sure you have the information needed to make an educated decision when you step into the voting booth.

If you’ve seen the debates online, heard conflicting information, or simply want to better understand what this means for Lafourche Parish, this episode is worth your time

🎙️ 5 Questions with the Parish President 😂🇺🇸

“The Parish President Picked Damien… Then Nick Said He Wouldn’t Vote For Him 😂”

We spent most of the episode talking serious parish business with Parish President Mitch Orgeron… but then we hit him with the questions that REALLY matter.

🤠 Lose your boat keys or truck keys?
🦞 Give up crawfish or gumbo forever?
🏈 Ref a Central vs South Lafourche game or moderate a Facebook political debate?
🗳️ And most importantly… who has the best chance to become Parish President: Casey, Damien, or Nick?

His answers did NOT disappoint. 😂
