Exciting News!⭐️
We have a New Instructor Katrina Stone⭐️

🙌🏼She will be teaching on Saturdays starting this week.

BIO:

Katrina is a Balanced Body comprehensively certified pilates instructor. Born and raised in southern California, her graduate studies brought her to the east coast. She has insatiable curiosity—about what makes people, our bodies, and the world tick. While completing her dissertation using statistics to harness large datasets and identify spatial patterns, she walked into a classical pilates studio on a whim in 2000. Although pilates is for every body and level of fitness, its focus on postural alignment and strengthening and lengthening our muscles to support our bodies through movement immediately awakened her love of choreography and grace from her years of dancing en pointe and competitive swimming. Katrina taught mat and reformer classes beginning in 2001 while working in downtown Washington, DC. She is also a credentialed executive coach, and is a health and wellness coach conferred by the National Board of Medical Examiners. Her hobbies include skiing, swimming, scuba diving, kayaking, and plans to spend more time gardening as a new empty nester.

The Flying Eagle on the lower chair in Pilates is important for several reasons:

1. Core Strength: This exercise deeply engages the core muscles, which is essential for stability and balance in everyday activities.

2. Hip Mobility: It promotes flexibility and mobility in the hips, helping to improve overall range of motion.

3. Upper Body Strength: The exercise works the shoulders, arms, and back, enhancing upper body strength and control.

4. Postural Alignment: It encourages proper alignment of the spine and pelvis, contributing to better posture.

5. Balance and Coordination: Flying Eagle challenges balance and coordination, which are crucial for overall functional movement.

6. Mind-Body Connection: The exercise fosters awareness of body positioning and movement patterns, enhancing the mind-body connection fundamental to Pilates.

Incorporating Flying Eagle into a Pilates routine can lead to improved strength, flexibility, and overall body awareness.
