A lot of people are stopping their sets because theyāve decided on 10 reps, not because the muscle is actually done.
If you hit rep 10 and couldāve done 15, that wasnāt a hard set just because the last couple burned.
Your body doesnāt know what number you wrote in your program. The goal is to make those reps challenging enough that youāre actually getting close to failure ā while still controlling the weight and keeping your form together.
And no, that doesnāt mean taking every set to absolute failure. But you should know what failure feels like if youāre going to accurately judge what ā2 reps leftā feels like.
Sometimes you donāt need a new exercise, a new split, or some fancy technique.
You need to stop treating the rep number like a finish line.
