Here is another coach for the Summer player development camp! One of three TASCO Hall of famers that will be in attendance. I’m met him years ago when I was coaching at the University of Dallas. He is a great guy and will be a great addition to not only the camp but Rockport TX.

Here is coach Schaffer’s bio -

Coach Schaffer taught and coached for 30 years in the Texas public school system. He retired from TRS in 2011 before accepting the Head Women’s coaching position at Texas Lutheran University.
He was the Head Women’s soccer coach at Texas Lutheran University from 2011 – 2021. He is the winningest women’s soccer coach in the history of TLU soccer.

Schaffer won a pair of Class 5A State Championships in boy’s soccer with San Antonio Churchill. Schaffer and the Chargers won state titles in 1998 and in 2001.

Schaffer is a two-time finalist for NSCAA National High School Coach of the Year and a two-time winner of an NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year award.

Schaffer twice has been named NSCAA Texas High School Coach of the Year and San Antonio Express-News Coach of the Year. He is a four-time winner of the Texas High School Coaches Association Region 4 Coach of the Year.

Schaffer was born in Billings, Mont., but he spent the majority of his childhood and young adult years in Minneapolis, Minn. Schaffer has an associate's degree from Bethany Lutheran College (Minn.) and a bachelor's degree from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
I’m currently the Head Girl’s Soccer Coach at Alamo Heights HS. I go in everyday to run the athletic class period and then have after school duties during the season. I’m a retire/rehire. No teaching duties.
Joy and I purchased a Condo in the Rockport Country Club Golf Club last year and are looking to move down fulltime. We currently live in New Braunfels. I would move to Rockport full-time if I got the position and Joy would come down when all affairs at New Braunfels were taken care of.

I invited my good friend Bobby Moffatt who was my mentor as a young player and coach to this summer‘s Player development camp. I learned so much from him during our time in England together!

Unfortunately, Bobby and his lovely wife are unable to travel these days and won’t be able to make it. He sent me this message and asked me to post it.

Byrd, this is an incredible opportunity and program you’ve created for the Coastal Bend. I would do anything to be down there with you and the boys one more time not only to kick the ball around and play a little footy but also to get together and Coach again like old times. I’ve always enjoyed and admired watching your spirit and your passion for sharing our great game. Those days that we share together on the road were historic. Please keep doing what you’re doing and keep growing our great game. I am so sad we can not be there!
To the players and parents of the Coastal Bend region. I would take great advantage of this opportunity that is taking place in your region. The network of coaching friends that coach Byrd has acquired will benefit you on the pitch and getting notice to play college ball if you choose that path.
We really wish we could be there with you all and definitely will be in spirit!
Thank you
Bobby Moffatt

Dallas Tornado’s( North American soccer league )

Here’s our next Coach in our summer Player development camp. This is my good friend Austin Guest. I met Austin when I was playing in Portsmouth England in 1990 and we’ve been good friends ever since. Austin is a solid coach and a solid person. Coach Guest just accepted the head coaching job at Hardin Simons University for the women’s program. Austin will be here for the last part of the week for our summer development camp. A lot of these college coaches have a lot of work to get done as most of their student athletes will be arriving August 1 for preseason camp.

Please welcome the bio for Coach Guest
