Gene, a Rothsay resident and son of Jim and Julie Boyce, has been involved with Special Olympics for 13 years, competing in golf, basketball, co****le, and track. Beyond competition, Gene has made an incredible impact through the Special Olympics Polar Plunge, raising more than $50,000 over the past 12 years to support athletes and programs across Minnesota.
Gene was selected as one of just twelve athletes on the Minnesota Golf Team and will compete alongside his father, Jim, as his Unified Partner. Unified Sports brings athletes and partners together to promote inclusion, friendship, and mutual respect through competition.
The 2026 Special Olympics USA Games, taking place June 20-26 in the Twin Cities, will welcome more than 3,000 athletes, 1,500 coaches, 10,000 volunteers, and 75,000 fans from across the country. Team Minnesota will send a delegation of 258 athletes, Unified Partners, and coaches competing in 16 sports.
Please join us in wishing Gene and Jim the very best as they proudly represent Rothsay, Fergus Falls, and Team Minnesota on the national stage. We are proud of your dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to making a difference both on and off the course.
Good luck, Gene and Jim!
