In 2020 I started spinning trumpets for 2 reasons. 1) I’ve always enjoyed the history behind them 2) I couldn’t afford the ones I wanted.
Since then I’ve spun a couple hundred of them. A lot in the beginning made their way to the burn pile and the rest are in the hands of hunters across the country. The Lord has blessed me more than I deserve in this life so far and all glory goes to him. I also owe a lot to those that trust me to spin them a trumpet to carry in the woods(at least I hope they are in the woods).
I spun this specific trumpet for my son, Wesson. He wanted an African Blackwood like the one I carry and I had one blank left that was much shorter than my original design. So we made it together and figured out how to condense the internals to make it work. Once it was done, I ran it like I do every call to see if it would make it to the field or in the burn pile. The conclusion of it was “the burn pile”. Wesson pleaded that we keep it because he liked the way it sounded and he would hunt with it. So it went on our display table. A week later I grabbed it to run it again and the hen I wanted to hear was there. She ran the way I want them all to!
Matthew 7:8 says “For everyone who asks receives, and the one who searches finds, and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” Then in Proverbs 3:5 it states “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely your own understanding”. I never pray to win a contest, often times I just pray for my nerves to calm to do the best I can. This trumpet was just a soft reminder to me that the things we pray for will be answered, but we just have to trust in Gods timing and his will, will be done. I made that trumpet and immediately trusted my own worldly thoughts in just a few seconds only to be humbled a week later that I again, know nothing. Trust in Gods timing and give thanks
