5th year QB Justin Brennan spent his first four years in the CWU Football program buried down the depth chart behind starters like Quincy Glasper, JJ Lemming, and Kennedy McGill. Last season he never even saw a snap of action. He graduated in June and could have left Ellensburg after getting his degree. But after Kennedy McGill transferred away, a new door opened for Justin, and he seized the opportunity to win CWU's QB1 job! Justin made his first start against FCS foe Cal Poly, completing 69% of his passes for 262 yards while also adding 42 rushing yards with 2 total touchdowns. Now he is preparing to face the #1 ranked defending national champs this weekend.

Against an FCS team already with a win under their belt, CWU fought until their final drive and just came up short. In his first start, Justin Brennan passed for 262 yards and a TD and rushed for another 42 and a TD. Ryder Bumgarner rushed for 99 yards with 39 receiving, Mason Juergens tallied 114 receiving yards and a TD while Cal transfer Isaac Torres added 81 in his CWU debut. Omar Lazcano had 10 tackles, 2 for a loss, while Cale Allen tallied 9 tackles and 2 pass break ups.

Lakes HS alum Justin Brennan put in the work and the heart, and waited until his FIFTH year at CWU to become the starting QB, beating out two former 3-star recruits for the QB1 job. He leads Central to the opening points of the game!
