Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain The only lines here are the ones you carve. Unbelievably uncrowded skiing just over one hour from Salt Lake City. Learn more at powdermountain.com.

Established in 1972, Powder Mountain is a treasured ski resort renowned for world-class terrain, pristine powder, and uncrowded expansive beauty - all just over an hour north of Salt Lake City. We’ve always been a place for those who like to take the path less traveled and go against the grain. By limiting day ticket sales and not accepting mega passes, Powder Mountain provides a peaceful retreat

from the gridlock traffic, congested slopes and long lift lines that have become the norm in the Wasatch. Our mountain represents a nod to early adopters and a beacon for those who like to do things differently.

DMI Zone loading… 🧨
Wyssen Avalanche Control towers are in place ✅

Two years of planning, multiple agencies working together, and the avalanche mitigation infrastructure for this zone within DMI is now in the last few stages.

A huge shout out to Alpine Mountain Construction and Air Resources for installing three Wyssen Towers (RACs, Remote Avalanche Control systems) and a bomb tram tower for us!

Who’s ready to ride DMI this winter?

Sundown regrade ✅🪏

We’ve completed one of our summer projects - a regrade of the top of Sundown lift. If you’ve unloaded Sundown before, you know the top was steep.

We’ve regraded and dropped the entire unloading zone by 10 feet, which will make for a much smoother exit, fewer lift stops and a faster ride to the top of the new Sundown Express starting in the 26/27 season!

Thanks to our General Manager, Bill Cubbage, for quadruple checking the new grade. Good to go 🔜⛷️

🚵🥾 East Brim Trail opens tomorrow, Saturday, July 11! Hike or ride along this 3.4-mile single-track loop, winding your way through aspens and evergreens. 🌲

🅿️ A reminder that parking is available only in the Hidden Lake lot, and you must walk or ride to the trailhead via Paper Airplane ➡️ Summit Pass Rd ➡️ Shelter Hill Rd.

Please continue to respect all posted signage and trail closures across the mountain.

We are looking forward to reopening the full, updated Brim Trail next summer. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy this new loop!

From the top of James Peak all the way down through Wolf Creek Canyon to the SR-158 avalanche gate, here is a breakdown of DMI’s three zones and the terrain you’ll be able to drop into starting in the 26/27 winter season.

The new DMI lift will give access to 1,047 acres of skiable terrain, 2,200 feet of vertical and over 25 distinct descent routes. Between the three zones, there’s every type of skiing that Utah is known for. It’s essentially a Utah sampler plate in a 1,047-acre area.

Check out the 3D Map on our website and start scoping your lines for next season. ➡️ Powder Mountain

To the dads of Powder Mountain! Many have played a role in our legacy and lore, named notable features and runs all over the mountain, taught countless ski lessons, and helped the next generation find a deep love and appreciation for this place we call home.

Here’s a few of the dads who might have influenced their kids to also work at Powder. Thanks to their family members for sharing these special moments with us. 🩵

We are getting a *major* Maintenance Shed upgrade. This brand new 23,650 square foot facility is where all mountain operations will be based out of, including vehicle maintenance, grooming, lift maintenance, park crew, ski patrol, and snow safety.

To have all mountain operations in one facility nearly 6x the size of our old shed will help us work even more collaboratively and efficiently - a game changer for the Powder team!

We’re stoked to move in and get settled well ahead of the winter 2026/27 season.

🔊Summer Operations Update
Construction for Sundown, DMI and other improvements across the mountain are underway, so pardon our dust as we push to get more built for this winter. Here’s information on upcoming trail openings:

➡️ Next week on Thursday, June 11, Paper Airplane & Woody’s World will open for hiking and biking. Parking is limited to the Hidden Lake lot and street parking is prohibited. Trailheads can be accessed from the Hidden Lake lot via Summit Pass Road. Trails will be open from sunrise to sunset.

➡️ In July, a new section of the Brim Trail will open! East Brim Trail will be a 3-mile loop that riders can access via Paper Airplane > Summit Pass Road > Shelter Hill Road (see map). The full 7-mile loop will reopen next summer and remain public.

➡️ In late June, the first trail segment of the Powder Art Foundation Art Loop will soft open, allowing guests to hike a 2-mile loop in the Hidden Lake area and view existing artworks, including Phase of Nothingness - Stone Stack, 1970/2025 by Nobuo Sekine.

We’ll see you on the trail!
