I wanted everyone to know that with a heavy heart, we have decided not to have our baseball/softball program this season. We had to make a tough decision, but due to the virus, we did not want to take that chance. Some of the cities, such as Ogden, were waiting for the yellow phase to start their program. They do know that we are not having one, so if you want your students to play, please call them or other cities. I do know that some have chose not to participate this summer. We are so sorry that this has caused some inconvenience for some. Hopefully we will have a strong program next year and it will be safe.
Ogden Valley Recreation right now is only affiliated with baseball/softball. I relinquished the basketball program to Bryan Bailey a few years ago. OVR also did a volleyball clinic many years ago as well as tennis lessons. During that time, I was managing a water park for 7 years and coaching high school tennis (boys and girls) for 12 years. I have been a part of Ogden Valley Recreation for 30 years now. It has been a joy watching the kids develop their skills. I have also seen the kids grow and now have kids of their own. Those parents that started in 3rd grade with OVR are also involved in coaching their kids. Thank you all for supporting our programs through those many years. To watch those students play high school sports has been so rewarding.
This is my last year as the Director for Ogden Valley Recreation. If anyone is interested in that position, please let me know. We do have a protocol with our organization, as we do have board members involved.
I have had questions on pickleball leagues out in the valley. At the present time, Ogden Valley Recreation is not offering a league. Please check with Huntsville town, as I know in the past they have offered one. Also, I suggest to visit the courts when you see people playing, as they may have some openings in their group. I love PB, so maybe in the future I may get involved. There are several leagues, especially at Mt. Ogden courts, and I actually drive to Farmington to play. Maybe I will do an open play day......will let you know. Please be safe. Again, thank you so much for all the support and for all the coaches and volunteers that participated in our programs.
Thank you so much,
Kathy Allen
