Learn to ride and race on the Dick Lane Velodrome!
The next certification session for 2026 will be run this coming weekend, June 6-7.
All classes take place over two days.
Classes are run from 9am to 12pm, both Saturday and Sunday.
You must attend both days to receive your certificate.
Cost: $60.00 (bike rental included) paid via cash, card or PayPal when you check in on day one of the class.
Once certified, you will be ready to race in the “D” category or join one of our track training sessions!
Equipment:
– rental bikes (without pedals) are available for no additional cost. You must provide your own shoes and corresponding pedals. If you don’t have these items, you can wear tennis shoes with laces tucked in.
– Bring your own helmet (required)
– You can bring your own track bike provided it has a fixed gear, no aero bars, no brakes installed and does not carry water bottles.

Happy World Bicycle Day!

Such a joyous day deserves good news. The tree is being removed at the velodrome as we type. It won't be completely removed with some larger sections on warm-up track (which will be closed), but we'll be racing! See you at the velodrome.

The track is back open and regular programming has resumed.

We may still experience some disruption once the City is able to begin removing the fallen tree from the infield. With the recent rainy weather, we do not yet have a confirmed timeline for that work.

If crews are on site working, we will pause programming as needed and allow them to do what they need to do safely. That may mean a same-day or short-notice cancellation, but we will do our best to communicate any changes as quickly as possible.

Well, it finally happened.

Last night, the tree in the infield at DLV came down late Sunday night with a load crash sound on our ring cameras — which means we can no longer claim to be the only velodrome in the world with a tree in the infield. :(

End of an era? Sure.

But like all good things, change happens and we're already pushing for a Japanese Garden to replace it... Barman's idea =) We still proudly lay claim to the only stream in a velodrome infield, and a track based on a mile, so the DLV remains every bit as eccentric as ever.

Fortunately, the tree appears to have avoided major damage to the track. However, until we can get it cleaned up and enough of it safely away from Turn 3, we need to cancel all racing and Youth Cycling League activities for now.

We are in communication with Parks and Recreation to figure out how best to handle the situation and will do our best to keep you informed.

Thanks for your patience, understanding, and love for this odd, very special place.

Sorry Folks. Racing is cancelled for tonight - May 6th. With heavy rain expected at 6:00pm until late, it seems silly to risk putting you all in it driving home. See you next week for our first Pro Race of the Season.
