Get yourself a teacher who practices what they preach

As long as I have a body, I will dance. That is my promise to myself and a promise to my students. What that dancing might look like can and should change over time. But if I am not participating in what I am asking of my students, how can I possibly empathize with them in their pursuit of their craft?
Sometimes, my days of executing a thousand tendus feels like another lifetime. And though that tendu might feel different now than it did, it’s still the same tendu and it’s still the same tendu I am passing on to my students. I am teaching my students a movement language and in order to do so effectively, I make sure I am also speaking that same language.

We are so excited to announce spirit week here at Art In Motion! The week of September 7th, all of our dancers are encouraged to dress like someone who inspires them! This can be anybody! We will be having a spirit week once a month. 💪💕

Kinda chic to be a mom who gets it… like really, we do. We see each and every student for who they are and give feedback based on each student’s goals and needs

Kinda chic to teach anatomically informed classes to help students understand body mechanics

Kinda chic to offer donation based adult classes to eliminate barriers for grown ups and provide access to healthy somatic practices

Kinda chic to teach ballet vocabulary and etiquette so dancers can take class anywhere in the world

Kinda chic to teach technique playfully and model curiosity

Kinda chic to offer need based tuition assistance and bring dance to children who deserve it

Kinda chic to teach children positive affirmations and be the change for the next generation
