Race report September 1, 2026

With Tom E under the weather, the fantastic four made Tuesday night racing happen with lots of laughs and fun time had for all!

INDYCAR started the action with Dewey, Beverly and Joe in the opening two heats. Steve joined the action in the third heat on red lane and blasted out a fast lap of 6.275 while completing 28 laps. In the next two heats Steve benefitted from Dewey's forced and unforced errors and opened up a lap lead. Meanwhile, Beverly and Joe battled back and forth in a fight for the final podium spot, and both took advantage of the others errors. In the final heat, Dewey made it very interesting as he got his lap back and proceeded to hunt down Steve, who for unknown reasons struggled on yellow lane, only completing 27 laps with a best lap of 6.477-UGH! But, unfortunately for Dewey time ran out and Steve took the win, both with 112 laps. Wonder Woman Beverly earned another podium by one lap over Joe. Honorable mention for Beverly for setting her fastest lap times on all four lanes at 4.8's, and Joe also clocking his fastest lap times on all four lanes ever- MUCH improvement for both! Fastest race lap earned by Dewey on blue lane at 6.241.

NASCAR next with Steve running away at the start and further into the action Dewey and Joe battled it out with Beverly mixed in the fight. Steve found himself shocked by the fact that he started on a brand-new fresh pair of Coyote slicks, anticipating the usual race or two break in period- but MAN these babies stuck like glue right from the start! Dewey's race was compromised, finding himself in the wrong place at the wrong time and getting tangled up and losing time. Joe and Beverly carried their fight over from the last race, both posting sub 4.8 lap times. At the finish Steve won, Dewey second, Joe took the final podium spot over Beverly by one lap. Steve set fastest race lap on blue lane at 4.693.

GREAT racing, GREAT fun, GREAT company! Next races are September 15th, and the 29th, and remember, if you don't have cars or controllers, or don't have your stuff ready, we have spares at no charge! Also, quick survey- is anyone up for weekend racing? Afternoon, evening, on a regular basis or once a month, interested in bringing family or friends, children, have a cookout? - share your thoughts? Stay well and safe and have a GREAT Labor Day holiday.

Race report August 18, 2026

The fabulous five returned for racing and most importantly to have lots of fun and laughs!

Trans Am pony cars took to the track with a trio of side-by-side bumping and bangin' action as Dewey, Joe and Steve couldn't get away from each other in the first heat, while Tom found the Trans Am cars very nervous and twitchy, Beverly race directing as first sit out. As the racing progressed, Dewey and Steve established a small gap to Joe, with Beverly not far behind. As the laps wound down, Steve had a small advantage over Dewey, and at the finish both completed the race with 105 laps, Steve's Dodge edging Dewey's Pontiac by less than a lap. Joe completed the podium with 103 laps, Beverly fourth with 101 laps, and Tom completed the order. Beverly demonstrated her pleasure racing the Chaparral Camaro by setting the fastest race lap on yellow lane at 6.615. WOW- way to go WONDER WOMAN!

Vintage Prototype Sports Cars opened with Steve charging hard in the red lane Ferrari, keeping pace with the owner of the series, Dewey. Could this be the night that Dewey doesn't win, as he has won all five previous rounds? As we approached the fourth heat, Steve was leading, but Dewey very close, and Joe within striking distance. But then Steve came to the blue lane Porsche, who every driver before said the motor was sluggish on re-starts, and Steve soon found out that it just wasn't a slug on starts, but pretty much down on power overall. With that discovery Dewey in the white lane Chaparral pounded 34 laps to Steve's 32 on blue lane and took command of the lead and the race. At that point Steve hoped going to the yellow lane Ford, with Dewey on blue with the Porsche slug, he had a chance-WRONG! Dewey squeezed 33 laps out of that slug to match Steve's 33 laps on yellow to maintain his lead and win his sixth consecutive VPSC event. Joe, Beverly and Tom completed the order. With little consolation Steve set fastest race lap on yellow lane at 5.167 in his failed attempt to beat Dewey.

AHHH! GOOD TIMES, GREAT RACING and LOADS of LAUGHS! We are so blessed to have the support and friendship of our group and look forward to the fast-approaching fall season and the return of all our friends and racers. Next event is Tuesday September 1st with INDYCAR and 4" NASCAR. Remember, if you don't have a car or controller, or don't have your car ready, we have spares- just take a break and join us- we promise you'll have FUN! God Bless and stay safe and healthy.

Race report August 4, 2026

First time with five Racers in quite a while with last event's visitor, Tom Elwood becoming this event's participant. Following a delicious spaghetti and meatballs dinner by Beverly, the racing got started.

INDYCAR action opened the evening with Dewey leading Joe, Beverly and Tom. Steve started his race in the second heat and kept pace with Dewey, neither one with an advantage over the other for now. Joe and Dewey battled it out with some unforced errors, and Beverly right there in the mix. Tom had an uneventful run getting used to car, controller and track; quite a bit to digest and sort out in the heat of a race. At the finish Dewey took the win 113 laps to Steve's 112 laps, the difference by one lap being red lane, where Dewey seems to have the magic regardless of class of car. Joe had a solid run to the podium completing 106 laps, just edging Beverly at 105 laps, and Tom completed the order. Fastest race lap was Dewey on blue lane with a 6.308, and honorable mention to Beverly for fastest white lane race lap at 6.313.

NASCAR 4" closed the evening with Steve jumping Dewey at the start, but not to last but a lap as Steve's car of choice turned out to be something of a disappointment with lack of race speed. Dewey pulled away with little effort, crushing the lap times and building a huge lead. Beverly and Joe both had very good runs until Joe experienced car problems midway through; he most certainly would have had his second podium of the evening. Beverly kept in the hunt with consistently fast lap times, completing her drive on yellow lane with the fastest lap time on that lane at 4.839, on her way to a podium second place-YAHOO! Dewey dominating the win with 143 laps and fastest overall race lap on blue lane at 4.758- congratulations on his first double win in the same night! Steve inherited third place following Joe's car problems and Tom completed the order.

GREAT racing, GREAT company, GREAT times- next event is August 18th featuring Trans Am and Vintage Prototype Sports Cars. Remember- If you don't have cars or controllers, or you don't have your cars ready- WE HAVE SPARES- all you gotta do is SHOW UP and HAVE FUN! Have a safe and great two weeks and we hope to see you on the 18th.

Race Report July 21, 2026

First gathering since June 3rd came with the slimmest of participants, and one newcomer/ observer, Tom E, a former slot car racer from New Jersey. Also, a warm welcome back to Joe Gugliotti, who has not raced since April 14th.

Trans Am took to the track first with Dewey leading the first two heats over Joe and Beverly. Steve came in the third heat and put his new Sam Posey Dodge Challenger to the test, having a strong run opening on red lane with 26 laps. Beverly had some great laps in the Parnelli Jones Mustang, setting fastest red lane time at 6.678, and fastest yellow lane time at 6.645! Joe ran a consistent and smooth race, as one would never guess he missed three months racing. At the finish, Steve barely edged Dewey, 105 to 104 laps, but in reality, it wasn't a full lap advantage, as Steve just crossed the finish line and Dewey was on the front straightaway. Joe completed the podium with 97 laps, and Beverly completed the order with 96 laps. Steve set fastest race lap on blue lane at 6.614.

Next up and for the fifth race came the Vintage Prototype Sports Cars, with Dewey going for his fifth consecutive victory! And with that confidence he pounded 33 laps on red lane with fastest red lane time of 5.182-amazing! Steve thought he had a chance with setting fastest race lap and new class record of 5.090 on white lane, but Dewey equaled Steve's lap count at 34, and almost re-took the class lap record producing a 5.097! - WOW- that's some really close racing. But in end, Dewey's red lane run with one lap more than Steve, proved the margin of victory 134 laps to Steve's 133 laps. Once again. Joe producing another strong run to another podium finish, with Beverly completing the order.

Apologies for the misinformation in prior reports concerning Dewey's consecutive race winning streak- in going back and counting VPSC race events, this was the fifth event since the first one on March 31st (the dates were 3-31. 4-14, 4-28, 5-26, and 7-21).

Next scheduled event is Tuesday, August 4th, with INDYCAR followed by 4" NASCAR. Please remember that if you don't have a car, or a car ready, just show up as we have spare cars and controllers ready for your enjoyment! Have a safe and GREAT two weeks and hope to see you on the fourth. (Don't forget to check out our race report with more videos and pics on our Coyote Raceway Park page)

Race Report June 9, 2026

A three-peat in a row for the fab four as the long and warm June days distract all the others to postpone participation. After a tasty homemade pasta and meatballs feast, the Racers took to the track.

INDYCAR proved to be a return bought between Dewey and Steve, Dewey with the upper hand in the early laps of the first heat, until Steve went barbaric in the doughnut taking Dewey out, not once, but twice, and Dewey returning the favor later in the heat. Both laughing it off as simple rough-housing FUN- no seriousness or hurt feelings here! Debbie and Beverly quietly racing each other, with Beverly setting faster times, but not consistent in avoiding going off, so the two ran close throughout the contest. At the finish, and we knew it was going to be close; Steve took the win by ONE CAR LENGTH in the doughnut (check out the pics!) both he and Dewey on 110 laps, Debbie bested Beverly 107 to 106 laps. Dewey set fastest race lap on blue lane at 6.254 and also had fastest race laps on the other three lanes.

NASCAR rockets opened with Dewey setting the pace throughout, as Steve chose to race his R&D Turbo-Flex with a few tweaks since the last outing. Despite getting the sled into the 4.9's, he just couldn't keep pace with Dewey, and the margin grew as the heats progressed. Debbie struggled the whole way through with unforced errors and an overall lack of speed, so we'll have a close look at her car and find out and fix what's going on. Beverly had a strong run and would have beat her better half (not really!), if it hadn't been for a poor run on red lane. At the finish, Dewey by three laps over Steve, 144 to 141, Beverly third at 139 laps, and Debbie completing the order. Dewey set fastest race lap on white lane at 4.745, and Beverly set fastest lap on blue lane at 4.782, and for the exception of red lane she had faster times on the other three lanes than her not-so-better-half!

Overall, a very relaxed and enjoyable evening with lots of laughter and JUST PLAIN FUN- Afterall this is what it's all about. Next event is June 23rd with Trans Am opening and Vintage Prototype Sports Car Challenge to complete the evening. Have a GREAT and SAFE time, and safe travels to Jason and family enroute to Canada.

Race report May 26, 2026

As it was two weeks ago and so it was now that the fabulous four gathered with two ghost racers to form another evening of fun and laughter, mixed in with a little slot car racing. This time of year, life after slot car racing is unavoidable with long days and wonderful weather demanding our attention to the great outdoors. After a very filling 'Lil Grocer take out order, we commenced to the racing, opening with Trans Am, and completing the evening with the Vintage Prototype Sports Car Challenge.

With all four competitors armed with 20K motors, the lap times fell as well as the track calls, as Dewey charged to an early lead, Debbie and Beverly battling it out very closely. Steve came in after two heats with his Parnelli Jones Mustang, setting a very good time on red lane at 6.568, but only managing 26 laps. Dewey found the 20K motor not suitable with his controller settings, so his run was spent experimenting with changing settings to find the right spot. At the finish, Steve took the win, averaging 26.8 laps per heat to Dewey's 26 laps per heat. and Debbie edging Beverly 24.8 to 24.5 laps per heat. Steve set fastest race lap at 6.528 on blue lane.

The Vintage Sports Cars proved another close competition. Dewey came in with the confidence of a hat trick of wins over the first three rounds and displayed his adaptability to each car and lane by commanding the lead throughout the contest. Steve completed his race distance first and had closed to within the same lap as Dewey, who entered his last heat on red lane. Steve thought he had him, as everyone knows red lane and the Ferrari are the slowest lane and car. Try telling Dewey that, as he pounded 33 laps to Steve's 32 laps on red lane, and best time of 5.252 to Steve's 5.457 on red lane! WOW-fourth win in a row- what do we have to do to beat this guy? As I mentioned at the top, close race- Dewey 134 laps, Steve 133, Debbie by track position over Beverly, both at 128 laps! Dewey set fastest race lap at 5.147 on white lane. (VPSC race lap record is 5.104- who else-Dewey!).

GOOD TIMES, GREAT COMPANY, EXCELLENT RACING-Come join us in two weeks (June 9th) for INDYCAR and NASCAR action. Take a break for a few hours and enjoy the company and the racing.

Race Report May 12, 2026

We didn't think we were going to have a race, as Chester, Jason, Tom and Joe cancelled out, but not wanting to wait another two weeks, the four friends decided to make it work. So, after a delicious cookout of hand-made hamburgers and hot dogs, Debbie, Dewey, Beverly and Steve recruited two 'ghost Racers' to fill the driver line-up and have someone always off to race direct. Plus, none of us would finish LAST!

INDYCAR action kicked off with Dewey charging out front with Beverly and Debbie battling it out not too far behind. We witnessed a surprising lack of track calls, as the open track offered Racers an opportunity to relax and concentrate, and with little interruption to break their rhythm. As Steve rotated into the race, a fight developed between Dewey and Steve at the front, and Beverly began to gain a slight advantage over Debbie. As the race wound down to the final heat, Steve managed the win by the slimmest of margins over Dewey, averaging 27.5 laps per heat to Dewey's 27.2 laps per heat. The Ladies finished even closer, both averaging 26.5 laps per heat, with Beverly capturing her second podium by track position. Fastest race lap on white lane was Steve at 6.30.

NASCAR thunder rocked the park with Dewey's rebuilt ride lapping consistent 4.8's. Steve elected to run the R&D TurboFlex chassis with taller tires and a lower gear ratio- turns out it was bullet fast down the straight but compromised in the slower corners. Debbie's ride had a new set of Coyote silicones, so her event was spent sliding sideways, scrubbing the new rear tires in. Beverly had another strong run with very good lap times, showcasing her improvement by clocking the fasted time on white lane at 4.851. At the finish Dewey demonstrated control with a 3-lap margin over Steve, Beverly with another podium, and Debbie completing the order. Fastest overall race lap on blue lane was Dewey at 4.804.

GREAT racing, GREAT fun, GREAT friendship, and a SHOUTOUT to our two GHOST RACERS, as without them, the evening wouldn't have been as enjoyable. Next event is Tuesday, May 26th with Trans Am and Vintage Prototype Sports Cars. We hope everyone is able to participate, and have a safe and enjoyable two weeks, as well as Memorial Day holiday weekend.

Race report April 28, 2026

With Debbie's welcome return and Jason and Joe's absence, six Racers gathered for Trans Am and Vintage Prototype Sports Cars, for the last event in April- how the time flies! After a tasty Italian sausage sandwich and handmade egg-potato salad by Wonder Woman Bev-it's time to RACE!

The Trans Am race picked right up were it finished two weeks ago with Chester and Steve battling it out at the front. Dewey and wife Debbie had a friendly tussle with Debbie's 20k motor pushing hubby Dewey's 17k motor to its limits, as Beverly and Tom enjoyed spirited drives, this being Tom's first T-A race, shaking down a converted INDYCAR to T-A with a new Parnelli Jones Mustang body. At the finish it was another nail biter as Steve bested Chet averaging 27.2 laps per heat to Chet's 27 laps per heat-WOW that's close! Taking the final podium averaging 25.2 laps per heat was Dewey, over wife Debbie's average of 24.8 laps per heat, with Tom finishing one lap ahead of Beverly, completing the order. Steve set fastest race lap on blue lane at 6.423- breaking his own T-A track record.

Next the exciting Vintage Prototypes challenged the adaptability of the Racers, as they aren't as evenly matched as the Trucks, thus the opportunity for skill and talent to shine and rise to the top. And, as always, the front runners are difficult to sort out, but not so much on this occasion, as it became apparent to this participant, that Dewey, once again emerged as the leader as early as mid-point through. Good battles throughout between all participants, and Tom adapted quickly on his first run with cars he hadn't practiced a lap with! With the transition from light to darkness becoming more comfortable, the laps and time wound down to a battle at the front that resembled a chess match, with Steve on yellow lane, Dewey on white lane, side by side, both waiting for the other to make a mistake, with Steve having to make up a lap for any chance of a win. The deserved victory earned by Dewey resulted 33 laps per heat to Steve's 32.8, and then there was Debbie and Chester matched in average laps per heat at 31.5, Chet taking the place on track position, and Beverly and Tom completed the order. Fastest race lap on yellow lane was Dewey at 5.178, close to breaking his own record, as he now has won all three of the Vintage Prototype Sports Car events plus an additional two wins in the Truck races- making him THE MAN to beat in CHALLENGE races-way to go BRO!

GREAT RACING-GREAT COMPANY-GREAT SPORTSMANSHIP- It's refreshing to race with RACERS that display courtesy, respect and discipline towards each other, and enjoy the spirit of the gathering-THANK YOU! With warmer weather and summer approaching with activities expanding to the outdoors with longer days, Bev and I have decided to pare back the schedule to every other week, probably until early September or possibly October. The next event will be May 12th, with INDYCAR followed by 4" NASCAR and we hope everyone can participate. Have a SAFE and GREAT remainder of the week.

Race report April 21, 2026

Five regulars, with a missing working out of town Debbie and busy Joe, and one newbie gathered for fun and excitement starting with INDYCARs followed by 4" NASCAR thunder. Our guest this evening proved to be no rookie, Tom Ross from Wilmington joined us with enthusiasm and experience racing the past two years up in Philly with Wednesday Night Racers and Great Traditions to mention a few stops he's had along the way. Although lacking in experience with 1/24 scale machinery and wood track surfaces, Tom acquitted and adapted himself very well to the transition.

INDYCAR opened the action and wow what it was from the start with another epic battle in the beginning between Chester and Steve. Steve came in on red lane and equaled Chet's run at 28 laps, but clocked lap times almost a tenth and a half faster, then in the remaining heats, Steve's car developed a vibration, dropping his lap times, and stressing his driving abilities to the limit in an attempt to keep pace with Chet. Meanwhile, Dewey and Jason enjoyed a fun filled comedy battle between themselves, trading places and exchanging bumps and bangs! Bev and Tom ran conservative and lonely races, granting courtesy and sportsmanship to the others. At the finish, Chet claimed victory over Steve, both 113 laps, Dewey delivered the final knockout punch to Jason to seize third, 110 to 109 laps, and Beverly followed by Tom completed the order. Chester set fastest race lap on blue lane at 6.206.

With the return of the 4" NASCARs came lightning-fast speeds, and the reverse order of events from the first race kinda took place as Chet and Steve battled very even in the opening heats, then Steve's car came alive with increasingly smooth speed and forcing Chet on the brink of destroying his controller trigger! Once again, Jason and Dewey waged their battle, with Dewey severely handicapped by a sliced brand-new tire and bent rear axle, and as the two endured their plight, they demonstrated great sportsmanship and comradery, laughing it off on every opportunity! Meanwhile the drive of the night goes to Beverly, who drove her most consistent and disciplined drive to earn her first podium- WAY TO GO BEV! At the finish Steve finished first, Chet Second, BEV THIRD, Dewey, Jason and Tom completing the order. Fastest race lap was Steve on white lane at 4.598.

GREAT RACING, GREAT COMPANY, and as we look forward to next week to Trans Am followed by Vintage Prototype Sports Car Challenge, we hope everyone will join us for FRIENDSHIP, FUN, and RACING! Have a GREAT and SAFE remainder of the week. Oh, and hopefully Debbie can make it next week as the room was WAY TOO QUIET!
