What if the most powerful su***de prevention tool isn't technology, but human connection?

That's the message CEO Dr. Anthony Estreet, PhD, MBA, LCSW-C, shared in a Forbes Health feature on su***de prevention. Suicideโ€™s impact reaches is devastating. โ€œFamilies are left with profound grief, guilt and often silence,โ€ he says. โ€œCommunities lose leaders, caregivers and loved ones.โ€

While AI can help connect people with information and crisis resources, it can never replace the empathy, compassion, and clinical judgment of trained mental health professionals.

๐ŸŽ‰ BIG NEWS for aspiring LCSWs in Colorado! ๐ŸŽ‰

Thanks to the implementation of HB26-1002, the number of post-degree supervised practice experience hours required for LCSW licensure in Colorado has officially decreased from 3,360 to 3,000 hours (accrued over a minimum of 24 months) โ€” effective August 12, 2026, and applicable to ALL applicants (both those who are just beginning their hours accrual & those who are currently nearing the 'finish line'!

NASW Colorado was instrumental in advocating for the inclusion of this provision in the bill, and we're proud to see it come to life. This is a win for workforce development, helping shorten the path to licensure while keeping Colorado aligned with the clinical-level licensure requirements of the Social Work Interstate Licensure Compact.

Congrats to everyone working toward LCSW licensure โ€” this one's for you! ๐Ÿ’™
