BEAT CANCER. GOT HER HORSE BACK. NOW SHE'S HAVING THE SUMMER SHE'S BEEN WAITING FOR. π₯
This one is about a whole lot more than a second-place check.
Laura Kleinjan just ran a personal best at the Northern Rodeo Association stop in her hometown of Chinook, Montana, finishing 2nd and pushing her summer earnings to $10,400.
And Laura's story deserves some attention.
She battled breast cancer in 2010, a fight that took her out of competition for a couple of years. She also came to barrel racing later than most β she describes herself as a βcity girlβ with no rodeo or agriculture background growing up.
Then 2025 brought another setback when her horse Roka dealt with injuries and surgeries.
But 2026?
Laura said it herself: βThis is my year.β
And she's making good on it. Earlier this summer, Laura had already cashed checks at 8 of her first 12 NRA rodeos, including four straight, and she and Roka have continued placing across Montana. Her goal is one she's been chasing for years:
Make the 2026 Circuit Finals.
Cancer survivor.
Late start in rodeo.
Horse finally healthy.
Personal best at home.
And she's still going for it.
THIS is what we want the Rodeo Bonus Ride Feed to become β not just a collection of great runs, but a place where you get to know the story behind them.
