My friends Vincent Browning and Shelly Lumpkin, owners of the gentle giant Oliver the Watusi has an upcoming medical procedure and they need our help.
The cost for the surgery, recovery and ongoing treatment till he’s better is costly. PLEASE stop by and get a photo with the handsome Tyson and/or make a donation towards their mounting veterinary expenses. So many of us have followed his stardom for many years, remember him making the national news going into Petco or had our children sit on his back for a photo.
Oliver is retired. He’s an older gentleman that deserves to rest without any pain his remaining days.

Good day, everyone. I wanted to continue keeping y’all updated on Oliver’s health and, unfortunately, this is not the news we were praying for. But there is still hope, and as long as there is hope, we are going to fight for him.
After our veterinarian reached out through the bovine veterinary network to doctors with extensive experience with the Watusi breed and with cases like Oliver’s, we were given only two options.
Dr. Cody and his team at Equine Medicine & Surgery will remove at least 12 inches of Oliver’s right horn in an attempt to remove the source of his chronic infection and give him a chance to recover. 🚨Its URGENT that this gets done SOON!!
The other option is to do nothing and allow him to continue to decline.
There is absolutely no question which choice we are making. We are going to fight for Oliver. ❤️
We now know that the chronic infection is inside his horn—not in his sinuses. His sinuses are clear, but his right horn is filled with so much fluid that blood cannot properly circulate through it to release heat. At least 12 inches of the horn will need to be removed to give him a chance.
After surgery, Oliver will need daily flushing and intensive care until the infection is completely gone. This will be a long, tedious process, especially for a 22-year-old Watusi. He will need to remain at the facility for several days so that Dr. Cody and his team can monitor him closely and provide the care he needs.
And honestly, we're gonna need your help.
The surgery, hospitalization, daily treatments, medications, and continued care are going to be costly. We never imagined we would find ourselves in this position, but we also cannot look at Oliver and simply give up on him.
Oliver has touched so many lives. He has been loved, admired, photographed, talked about, and followed by people from all over. So many of you have watched his journey and have come to love the big, beautiful Watusi with the enormous horns and even bigger personality.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will help toward giving Oliver the best possible chance at recovery. And if you aren't able to donate, sharing this post is just as important. You never know who might see it and be able to help.
This is going to be a difficult road, and we know there are no guarantees. But we are not ready to give up on Oliver.
