About Us

The staff at Davis Strength and Conditioning will apply principles from all fields of strength and conditioning such as Olympic lifting, plyometric training, anaerobic, and aerobic conditioning through group classes, personal training, open gym, or customized fitness/flexibility/mobility programs. No matter what stage of health you are at, we have something to offer you. Olympic Lifting:


A true passion for Davis Strength and Conditioning. Most gyms do not provide proper equipment that allows members to experience the full benefits of Olympic style weight lifting. Clean and sn**ch variations develop explosive strength and power while also improving flexibility and stability. Learn how to properly and safely lift weights to ensure effective progression. Mixed Modality Training:
Imagine you are both a marathoner and power lifter. Sprinter and rock climber. Mixed modality training allows a wide spectrum of fitness by offering various training domains in a single training session. This could be as simple as combining jump rope and weight lifting. One, it's fun. Two, it's time efficient. This type of training allows us to have the best of all realms without the need to specialize. Mixed modality training results in performing everyday tasks with remarkable performance. Flexibility and Mobility:
Regardless of who you are, you need to be able to move your body. Training your flexibility is no different than any other type of training. It takes time and attention. Learn simple, every day techniques to develop and improve body mechanics, increased range of motion, injury prevention, and body awareness. Those of you who are tied to a desk all day, this is the program for you.

We are very excited to welcome to our staff.

A little bit about Coach Matthew:

“My name is Matthew Staycer and I am a from San Diego CA and went to Torrey Pines High School. I’m a former football and rugby player at UC Davis and currently am coaching Rugby at UC Davis as well as coaching strength and conditioning and D-line and Davis Senior High School.”

He will be coaching the 6am and 830am on Mondays and Fridays and is also available for personal training.

Congrats to and her commitment to swim at 🏊🏻‍♀️ 👓

Angelina has obviously put in her time in the classroom, but she’s also been very committed to the weight room training. She’s very coachable and one of the most proficient lifters we’ve had recently. Often times I catch her coaching up her team mates at the gym.
