🥇 Beyond Graduation, the Dream Continues—Congratulations, Timothy!

Graduating from university and starting a career bring new responsibilities—but there is still room for what you love.

True Focus's Timothy Xu (Tingwei) has picked up his épée again after graduation, balancing work with training at Alliance Fencing Academy and continuing to pursue his fencing dreams.

On October 18 in Houston, Timothy won gold in Div I-A Men's Épée at Battle in Space City ROC/RJCC, finishing first in a field of 40! 🏆

🤺 Pools: 5 wins, 0 losses; 24 touches scored, 7 received; +17 indicator. He entered direct elimination as the No. 2 seed.

🤺 Direct elimination: After a bye in the round of 64, he won five straight bouts:
• Round of 32: 15–5
• Round of 16: 15–9
• Quarterfinal: 15–12
• Semifinal: 15–11
• Final: 15–8

An undefeated day, a gold medal, and an updated A26 rating!

We are proud of his result—and just as proud of his commitment to returning to training and challenging himself while building his career. Balancing work and fencing takes planning and persistence. Timothy shows our younger teammates that graduation can mark both a new chapter in life and a fresh start in pursuing a dream.

Thank you to Alliance Fencing Academy for supporting Timothy's training and growth. Congratulations, Timothy! Keep bringing that passion to your work and to the strip. We look forward to seeing where it takes you next!

Clearer goals. Calmer competition. Continued growth.

TFSA’s October NAC journey is complete!

Tristan Yao won four consecutive direct-elimination bouts to finish eighth in Y14 Men’s Épée. With a clear goal, he showed greater composure and focus under pressure. We’re proud of his continued progress and look forward to seeing him keep working and moving forward.

Chenyu Xu went undefeated in six pool bouts and finished ninth in Y14 Women’s Épée. Congratulations also to Chloe Yu, Devin Wang, Austin Yu, and Jessie Wang for embracing the challenge and gaining experience on the national stage.

Every athlete’s effort deserves recognition. Competition is about more than placings: it’s about learning about ourselves, meeting challenges, and bringing those lessons back to training.

Thank you to our families and coaching team for your support. Keep working, encourage one another, and grow together!

For TFSA Junior and Cadet athletes and parents planning to enter the 2027 Junior Olympics: check your athlete’s nationality-verification status before registration.

Sign in to your USA Fencing member account → My Account → Edit Profile → Nationality Verification. Your athlete may already be verified. If not, submit an accepted document directly to USA Fencing—not to TFSA. Check age, membership, and qualification requirements separately; verification is not an event entry.

Registration opens October 7, 2026. The regular-fee deadline is November 11, 2026. This new verification requirement does not apply to NAC events.

USA Fencing Rule Update — Effective October 1

USA Fencing has eliminated the P-Yellow card for non-combativity.

Previous progression:
P-Yellow → P-Red → P-Black

New progression:
P-Red → P-Black

The one-minute definition is unchanged: after one minute of fencing time without a touch, the first penalty is now P-Red. The October NAC in Orlando (Oct. 9–12) will be the first national event under the updated rules.

USA Fencing also strengthened safety requirements for practice bouts and lessons at competitions. Athletes and families: please review the update before travel.
