Fall sports with 3 little kids = a LOT of moving partsšŸ˜…

Over the years, we’ve found a few things that make the transition into a new sports season feel a little less chaotic for our family:

→ Put every practice/game on the calendar
→ Make sure we have the clothes + equipment we actually need
→ Start talking to the kids about the new schedule ahead of time
→ Read books or watch videos if something is brand new
→ Use a visual schedule when a new routine needs a little extra support
→ Keep one ā€œalways packedā€ bag with snacks, wipes, toys + all the random things we inevitably need

None of this is meant to be a perfect-parent checklist. It’s just what works for our family.

And this year, we’re trying a Skylight calendar for the first time… so we’ll report back on that vs paper!

If you’re looking for an easy fall sports option for your little one, our programs require no special equipment or uniform and include a built-in social story to help kids know what to expect.

We don’t have time for another thing on our calendar…

But we can find 50 minutes once a week for something that gives our kids a chance to run, play, make friends, try something new, and feel proud of themselves šŸ’ššŸ’œ

Because sometimes the things that feel like ā€œone more thingā€ to us become the things they look forward to most.

We spend a lot of time thinking about how to make sports easier for kids, and lately, we’ve realized that many of the things that help kids thrive in our classes can make the back-to-school transition a little easier, too.

So this year, we’re bringing these 4 things from the field to home:

šŸ’œVisual schedules: so they know what’s coming next.
šŸ’šIntentional breaks: because sometimes a snack + water + 10 minutes to regroup changes everything.
šŸ’œLower expectations: new routines take time. ā€œYou showed up and triedā€ is a win.
šŸ’šFlexibility: have a plan, but be willing to change it when your child needs something different.

Because the goal isn’t a perfect first week of school.

It’s finding a rhythm that works for your family.

We wrote more about each of these (plus some of our favorite tools to make them easier) on the blog.
