✨Athlete of the week: “Michelle N.” ✨

Michelle started karate when she was 6 years old.

What are your accomplishments in karate?

She won one silver and three bronze medals at AAU District tournaments in 2023. She just tested for her nidan in karate.

What are your accomplishments at school?

In 2026 she was one of the finalists at the convention U.S. Nationals in Dearborn, Michigan. She is an active 4-H member. In 4-H she won over 15 awards for her projects at the Lake County Fair in 2025 and 2026. She is a straight A student. She also, enjoyed doing the announcements for her school last school year.

How has karate helped you in your daily life?

Karate has given me a lot of patience, focus, and determination. For example, patience to wait for a test result, or focus to stay on track and set goals to earn higher belt’s.

What do you like most about karate?

I like the agility, because when I am tired after working out, it’s a good kind of tiredness that I feel happy with myself. I also like to help others in karate. 🥋
