Mambas Fastpitch

Mambas Fastpitch Mambas Fastpitch is a 13uB travel softball team based in Southern Indiana. Mambas Fastpitch is based in Corydon, Indiana. We were formerly known as the Panthers.

We wanted to come up with a name for our team with a deeper meaning, and this brought us to Mambas, which is named after Kobe Bryant's philosophy, Mamba Mentality. The Mamba Mentality is a constant quest to be the best version of yourself. As coaches, we strive to make these athletes the best versions of themselves both on and off the field. The Mamba Mentality is about focusing on the process (pr

actices) and trusting in the work when it matters most (in games). We hope you enjoy following us in our softball journey!

I’m never one to blame an umpire for a loss, and I know calls are part of the game. But tonight was absolutely heartbreaking for our girls.

We were ahead in the bottom of the 6th inning with two outs when London made an incredible diving catch at second base that should have ended the game. We cheered. We celebrated. The girls ran off the field believing they had just secured the championship.

Only moments later, we were told the play was not ruled a catch and that we had to go back out and get another out. Unfortunately, the momentum shifted, and we ultimately lost the championship game 3-4.

Accepting Runner-Up rings after believing you had just won the championship was a feeling none of these girls were prepared for. They didn’t want the traditional ring ceremony. They didn’t want pictures. Honestly, they were just heartbroken. But they put on their best smiles and took the picture anyway.

This one will sting for a while. I’m proud of these girls for the way they competed in their first 14u open tourney as a 13u team, and I hope someday they’ll look back and remember that even the toughest moments are part of the journey. Tonight just hurts. 💔🥎
