As e-bikes become more common, too many riders, parents, and trail users still do not know that different e-bike classes come with different rules.

🚲 Class 1: Pedal-assist only, with motor assistance stopping at 20 mph.
⚡ Class 2: May use a throttle without pedaling, with assistance stopping at 20 mph.
🚴 Class 3: Pedal-assist only, with assistance up to 28 mph—and a functioning speedometer is required.

Class 1 and 2 e-bikes are generally allowed where regular bicycles can ride, but local governments and trail managers can set additional restrictions.

Class 3 e-bikes have stricter rules. They are generally prohibited on shared multi-use paths and greenways unless the route is adjacent to a street/highway or the local authority has specifically allowed them.

For Class 3 riders in Tennessee:
🪖 Helmets are required for all riders and passengers.
🔞 Operators must be at least 16 years old

Due to recent weather conditions, the MTB trail is temporarily CLOSED.

Heavy rain has left the trails muddy and vulnerable to damage. Closing the trail now helps protect it from erosion and ensures it remains safe for everyone once conditions improve.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. We'll reopen the trail as soon as it's safe and ready to ride. Please check back for updates.
