This is what we do in here.

We shimmy. We undulate. We break movements down into pieces small enough for the body to hold, and then we put them back together and watch something beautiful emerge.

Belly dance is one of those art forms that looks impossibly fluid from the outside. Like the people doing it were simply born knowing how to move that way. I promise you they weren't. Every dancer you've ever admired started exactly where you are, watching someone else move and thinking, "I could never do that."

You can. I've seen it happen frequnetly.

In my classes we go slow. We laugh a lot. We celebrate the small wins because the small wins are actually the whole journey. Nobody walks in on day one and performs. But everybody walks in on day one and learns something, and that first something is where it all begins.

If you've ever watched belly dance and felt something stir in you, maybe curiosity, longing, or that quiet voice saying I want to try that, consider this your sign.

Come as you are. Leave knowing something new about what your body is capable of.

Classes are open to all levels. Links in bio.

PS. If anyone understands sound, I'd love to talk to you about my mic issues. I promise I'm not yelling at students.

Happy Witchy Wisdom Wednesday, loves, and welcome to September. We are still integrating the powerful eclipse season that rocked August, and the cosmos has given us the perfect medicine for this week: the first exact trine between Jupiter in Leo and Saturn in Aries.

The Jupiter-Saturn trine is an invitation to refine the structures that support our growth, and make sure the commitments we make are aligned with our long-term vision and with what is meaningful to us. In other words, dream big, but build smart.

Jupiter in Leo wants to expand, shine, and reach, while Saturn in Aries wants discipline, courage, and structure. Together they form a trine of confidence meeting commitment. This isn't the energy of wild inspiration alone; it's the energy of following through. Of being someone who does what they say they'll do, especially with themselves.

I'll be honest, this one hits close to home for me. I know what it's like to have big dreams and then talk yourself out of them before they even get started. Fear of failure. Fear of not being good enough. But Jupiter and Saturn together are saying you don't have to be perfect, you just have to begin. And then keep going.

For belly dancers: this trine is your invitation to commit to the practice in a new way. Sign up for the workshop. Film yourself this week. Set a goal for your next performance. Jupiter says dream it; Saturn says schedule it.

For yogis: think about what your practice looks like when you treat it as sacred structure rather than just "something I do when I have time." This trine supports building a consistent daily practice. Even five minutes counts. The root of the tree determines how high the branches can grow.

Jupiter-Saturn trine ritual: write down your biggest creative dream AND the one concrete step you will take this week to move toward it. That's the magic Jupiter and Saturn make together.

What big dream are you finally ready to build the foundation for?

There is a place I go sometimes when I'm dancing.

It doesn't announce itself. One moment I'm counting beats, cueing movements, thinking about what comes next, and then suddenly I'm not thinking at all. I'm just in it. Fully, completely, blissfully in it.

Time dissolves and the room falls away. There is only the music and the movement and this body doing the thing it was made to do.

This is flow state. And it is, without question, the closest thing to pure magic I have ever felt in my physical form.

Psychologists describe flow as a state of complete absorption, where the challenge of what you're doing meets your skill so perfectly that your brain stops narrating and simply becomes the experience. Time distorts, self-consciousness evaporates, and what remains is immense, almost inexplicable pleasure.

In the craft we might call this trance. Or embodied ritual. The moment when the boundary between you and the divine gets wonderfully thin.

I feel it when I dance. I feel it when I teach, when a class finds its rhythm and something alive moves through the room and I am simultaneously leading it and surrendering to it.

It is why I do this.

Not just for the exercise. Not just for the skill. But for those moments when my body becomes a vessel for something larger than technique or choreography or anything that can be written down and taught.

Movement is my magic. Flow state is where I find it.

And I want that for every single person who walks into my classroom. Not every class, not every day, but enough times that you understand in your bones why we keep coming back.

Because once you've felt it, nothing else quite compares.

This Witchy Wisdom Wednesday closes eclipse season with a sacred, watery exhale. The Partial Lunar Eclipse in Pisces arrives this week, and it is asking something profound of us.

The Lunar Eclipse tomorrow closes the eclipse portal that opened with the Leo Solar Eclipse two weeks ago. Two weeks of intensity, revelation, and identity-level shifts, and now Pisces offers the antidote: surrender.

The Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Pisces encourages emotional release, compassion, and spiritual awareness. Pisces is the last sign of the zodiac. Its the great dissolver, the mystic, the dreamer. It rules what we can't see, the unconscious, the spiritual realms, the deep well of feeling beneath the feeling. This eclipse asks: what are you finally ready to release into the waters and let go?

This lunation highlights the axis between practical, day-to-day functions and the boundless, intuitive world of Pisces. The tension between what we do and what we feel, between the to-do list and the soul's longing. Under this eclipse, the soul wins.

For belly dancers: Pisces energy is fluid, formless, and deeply intuitive. This is the week for improvisational dance. No need for choreography, structure, or plan. Just close your eyes, feel the music, and let your body go where it goes. Trust it. This is the most ancient form of our art.

For yogis: this eclipse belongs to savasana, to yoga nidra. To the practices that ask you to do nothing and receive everything. If you've been pushing hard in your practice, this is your cosmic permission slip to rest. Deeply, completely, without guilt. The body heals in the stillness.

Lunar Eclipse ritual: write down everything you are ready to release from this eclipse season, including old identities, old stories, and old fears. Take the piece of paper to a body of water (even a bowl of water on your altar), say your release aloud, and let the paper dissolve or drop the paper in. Watch the water take it.

What is this eclipse season asking you to finally release?

Can I tell you something I've been humbled by lately?

Marketing. I am learning marketing right now and it is hard. Like, genuinely, frustratingly, where-do-I-even-start hard. And measuring whether any of it is actually working? Even harder. There's no moment where the hip drops into place and you think, "Yes, I've got it." It's messy and uncertain and I am very much a beginner.

And I say that because I want you to hear this from someone who is living it right now. Being bad at something new is one of the most uncomfortable feelings in the world as an adult.

We weren't always like this though.

Think about learning to walk. Nobody handed you a manual. You just kept falling down, maybe bumped your head a few times, got back up, and eventually your little legs figured it out. You weren't embarrassed. You weren't afraid of failing. You just kept going.

Somewhere between then and now, something changed.

Research on fear of failure shows that adults consistently rate the fear of looking incompetent as one of the biggest barriers to trying new things. We stop attempting things we might be bad at. We stay in our lane. We choose the safe and familiar over the exciting and unknown.

But here's what I know from years of teaching yoga and belly dance, your body learns the same way it always has. Slowly. Imperfectly. With a lot of wobbling before the grace shows up.

In my classes there is no judgment. Not from me, not from anyone. You are allowed to be a beginner. You are allowed to look ridiculous while your hips figure out what on earth I'm asking them to do. You are allowed to laugh at yourself, loudly, frequently, and without apology.

The only thing you need to walk through my door is a willingness to try.

Everything else comes with time. I promise.

Witchy Wisdom Wednesday lands in the softer, more intentional energy that follows eclipse season, and the cosmos has given us the perfect guide for this integration week. Venus enters her home sign of Libra, reminding us that our relationships thrive when true harmony and reciprocity are present. This transit refines our awareness of the dynamics at play within our connections and asks us to pay close attention to how we give, receive, collaborate, and connect.

After the intensity of the Leo Solar Eclipse, Venus in Libra is the exhale. The candlelit bath after the storm. The gentle reminder that beauty, balance, and reciprocity are also sacred practices.

Venus in Libra asks us to consider whether we may compromise too much, sacrificing our needs and desires to please others while building resentment deep down. How many of us, especially those of us in the healing and creative arts, do exactly that? We give and give and give until we have nothing left, and then wonder why we feel depleted.

I'm not immune to this. I deal with my own struggles around worth, around taking up space, around asking for what I need. If you do too, this transit is speaking directly to us.

For belly dancers: Libra governs the lower back and the kidneys. This week, bring your awareness to those areas as you dance. Add in some gentle undulations, slow figure eights, and hip sways that feel nourishing rather than effortful. Dance as an act of self-care this week.

For yogis: Libra's balance energy calls for standing balance poses, like tree, warrior III, and half moon. But also poses that open the lower back, like reclined pigeon, supine twist, and supported bridge. Balance the give and take, one side at a time.

Venus in Libra ritual: light a pink or rose-gold candle, put on music that makes you feel beautiful, and do one thing today that is purely, unapologetically for you. No justification needed.

Where in your life are you ready to choose more reciprocity?

Fair warning before you join one of my classes.

We have fun in here. Like, we really have fun. And some of the humor tends to be a little... let's say adult adjacent.

Case in point, the other day I was teaching chest circles. Except the way it came out of my mouth and landed in my student's ears sounded a lot more like chesticles.

We laughed for a solid few minutes. No regrets.

This is a completely normal belly dance class.

Here's the thing though, the laughing isn't just fun for fun's sake. Research on attention and focus shows that the brain can only sustain concentrated learning for so long before it starts to check out. We're talking somewhere between 10 and 20 minutes of deep focus before the mind needs a break.

And my classes run about 45 minutes of actual working time, even with a 10 minute warmup and a 5 minute cooldown, that's a lot to ask of a brain AND a body simultaneously.

So the jokes and the puns and the occasional chesticles moment? Those are the mental breathers. The reset button. The moment where your nervous system exhales and comes back ready to learn the next thing.

Laughter is a legitimate teaching tool. I'm just also genuinely immature enough to enjoy it.

So if you've been thinking about joining a class and you were worried it might be too serious or intimidating, it's not. Come for the hip circles. Stay for the puns. Leave with actual skills and your abs sore from laughing and dancing.

That's the deal.

This is the most powerful week of 2026, loves. The Total Solar Eclipse in Leo arrives on August 12th, and the sky has been building toward this moment all year.

This Total Solar Eclipse in Leo is a cosmic coronation, a profound initiation into your sovereign creative power. This is more than a New Moon. It's a portal of destiny, a moment when the universe asks: are you ready to step into your role as the main character of your own life?

This eclipse highlights themes of self-expression, courage, and visibility. It asks us to strip away old masks and step into a more authentic radiance, even if doing so feels vulnerable at first. A total solar eclipse means the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun and fully obscures it. For a brief period, daylight vanishes. In Leo, that darkness falls on leadership, authority, identity, and recognition, and raises a quieter, more unsettling question: what happens when the spotlight goes out?

For those of us who have built our worth around being seen, performing, achieving, this eclipse asks a deeper question. Who are you when no one is watching? That is the Leo shadow, and that is the healing.

Leo teaches us about the heart. Not just romance, but the courage to ask yourself if you're living the life you want to, or the one you feel like you're expected to.

For belly dancers: this eclipse is your cosmic stage call. But to perform as yourself, fully, without apology or editing. What part of your dance have you been holding back? This eclipse says: bring it out.

For yogis: eclipses ask us to go inward even as they stir the external. This week, try a full yoga nidra. Let the eclipse do its work in the dark, in the quiet, in the space between heartbeats.

Eclipse ritual: this eclipse plants seeds that unfold over the next six months. Write your most courageous intention, the one that scares you a little. Seal it. Open it at the February 2027 New Moon.

What old version of yourself is this eclipse asking you to release?

Yoga and belly dance are not necessities. Nobody needs these classes the way they need groceries or a roof over their head. They are a luxury, a chosen investment of time, money, and energy.

And that means something important to me as a teacher.

If you are choosing to spend your precious time and hard-earned money in my classroom, you should actually want to be there. You should leave feeling like it was worth it, every single time.

That's the standard I hold myself to.

My classes are meant to be fun. Movement should feel like a gift you give your body, not a punishment or a chore. But they're also educational, because I believe you deserve to understand what your body is doing and why. To feel yourself getting better at something. To walk out knowing something you didn't know when you walked in.

Most of all I want you to leave feeling good.

Good about your body. Good about what you just learned to do with it. More confident than when you arrived, not because I told you that you were perfect, but because I helped you discover what you're actually capable of.

I'm not here to break you down and rebuild you in some ideal image. I'm here to build you up exactly as you are.

Because a great class doesn't just teach you something. It reminds you of something you already knew, that your body is remarkable, and it deserves to be celebrated.

Happy Witchy Wisdom Wednesday, loves!

Welcome to one of the most expressive weeks of the year. Mercury enters Leo this week, fueling bold, creative, and expressive communication, and right on its heels, on August 6th Mercury officially clears its post-retrograde shadow, meaning we are no longer in revision mode. The weeks of correcting errors, revisiting misunderstandings, and circling back are done. Clarity is restored.

Take a breath. Feel that? That's the exhale of a full communication cycle completing. Now, with Mercury in Leo, we get to speak.

Mercury in Leo reminds us of the power of our words, thoughts, and ideas, and inspires us to experiment with new creative ways of expressing what we think and who we are. This isn't subtle, whispered magic. This is the declaration, the performance, the roar.

For belly dancers: Leo rules the spine and the heart. This week, let your movement be a statement. Every arm, every hip drop, every chest lift is a word in the language your body speaks. What is your body saying this week? Let it be something true and something loud.

For yogis: Lion's pose (simhasana) is literally made for this transit. Open your mouth, stick out your tongue, exhale the roar. It might feel silly. It might feel incredible. Leo doesn't care which. It just wants you to try. Also explore heart-opening flows with cobra, camel, and wheel if they are in your practice. Let Mercury in Leo remind your body that it, too, has something to say.

Mercury in Leo ritual: Write yourself a love letter. Not a gratitude list, not affirmations, but a true love letter, from the most generous, expansive version of yourself to the version that sometimes forgets she's worth it. Read it aloud. That is the spell.

What does your heart most want to say right now?
