Mt. Itasca Winter Sports Center is a winter sports recreation area hosting ski jumping, nordic and alpine skiing, biathlon, snowboarding, and tubing.

Mt Itasca is in need of a indoor manager. This position affects our ability to open in December.

Duties include:
1. Run the operations at our ticket counter, including:
a. Manage and schedule employees who work at the ticket and concessions counter.
b. Purchase food and beverages for concessions
c. Update point of sale system as needed
2. Respond to customers via phone, email, text, and Facebook messenger.
3. Schedule tubing parties and chalet rentals.
a. Respond to customer inquiries
b. Coordinate with outdoor manager so outdoor manager can schedule lift attendants
4. Make occasional Facebook posts promoting our activities or announcing closures due to adverse weather/extreme cold.

Mt Itasca open hours are weekends December 5, 2026 to March 14, 2027 10-4 PM as well as school vacation days (Christmas Break, MLK Day, President's Day), Learn to Ride (Tuesdays and Thursdays in February, 4-6 PM), and tubing parties that are scheduled during the week.

Pay is $25/hour. Previous experience is preferred.

Benes Well Drilling is onsite to drill a second well to increase our snowmaking capacity. This is the final phase of our snowmaking improvement project and will help all our venues get up and running faster in the fall and winter. Thanks to the Blandin Foundation, Iron Range Resources & Rehabilitation, private donors, and local clubs for funding this project!

Our own 70-meter jump is facing some critical decision points. Big landing hill repairs are needed, and options range from doing nothing and closing the jump, minimal repairs and limping along (hoping things hold together), and comprehensive upgrades/repairs that will guarantee a future for ski jumping but cost more than a million dollars.

Nonetheless, here is an example where upgrades are happening in the U.S. ski jumping world.

Buns To Go will be coming to our Mountain Music celebration this afternoon! We will also have ice cream from Borealis Creamery on hand.

The skies might be a little hazy this afternoon, but the latest forecasts show smoke concentrations will remain relatively low during our music event. The air quality alerts that are in place are primarily for smoke that may drift in from the east overnight into tomorrow morning, and our event will have ended by then.
