On June 27, 1972, undisputed light heavyweight champion Bob Foster stepped into the ring against undefeated challenger Mike Quarry in Las Vegas.

Quarry came in unbeaten. Foster came in with one of boxing’s most feared weapons: a reportedly 79-inch reach—giving him an incredible advantage at long range.

By the fourth round, Foster turned that reach into destruction, stopping Quarry with a terrifying knockout and reminding everyone why he was the king of the light heavyweights.

The card was even billed with a tongue-in-cheek name: “The Soul Brothers vs. The Quarry Brothers.”

There’s a reason The Little Engine That Could has stayed with generations of children. It’s not really a story about a train climbing a hill. It’s a story about believing in yourself when the challenge in front of you looks bigger than you are.

The little engine wasn’t the biggest.
It wasn’t the strongest.
It wasn’t the fastest.

But it believed it could.

And sometimes, that’s exactly what a child needs to hear.

Every parent should read this book to their child—not just because it’s a wonderful story, but because its message can stay with them for a lifetime:

You may face obstacles. You may fail. You may feel like you’re not strong enough. But never stop believing that you can keep moving forward.

As parents, we can’t remove every hill our children will have to climb.

But we can teach them to look at that hill and say:

“I think I can.”

And someday, when life gets difficult and we’re no longer there to hold their hand, hopefully those words will still be inside them.

Roger Gracie entered the cage with an undefeated MMA record and one of the most feared grappling pedigrees in combat sports. Across from him stood “King Mo” Lawal—and Lawal had other plans.

Lawal controlled the fight on the feet before unleashing a devastating right hand that stopped Gracie at 4:33 of the first round.

One punch changed everything. Roger Gracie suffered the first professional loss of his MMA career, while King Mo delivered one of the most memorable knockouts of his Strikeforce run.
