If anyone is counting, the 14th horse we brought was Meg. LAR Midnight Express Megatron. A Friesian/knabstrupper cross, this 4yo mare takes your breath away. She came to the show to work and hopefully compete in the intro an and b tests. The weather predicted for Sunday pushed the show to hold dressage on Saturday rather than Sunday. A wise choice on the shows part, but a tough one for Meg. She really needed another day to settle in. She was very excited and all kinds of extra. We were not able to make the tests happen. šŸ˜ž.

It’s important to me to be public with the fact that not everything goes to plan when you train horses. Social media is tough for our society as a whole. And there’s a ton of people comparing their worst day to everyone on social media’s best day. But please take this away from this post: while we couldn’t make things a fairy tale story with this mare, it does not take away from how amazing she is. And her story will get better. Horse training takes the time it takes. The horses decide that time. Not us. Don’t give up.

We love all the horses entrusted to us, but some are just a little more wedged in our hearts. Meet Kissed By An Angel, aka Lucy. She is a special one, to us and to Morgan-dom as a whole. I won’t go into her backstory but her current story is that she has been under saddle for about 3 months. She has two speeds: all out and hard stop. šŸ˜‚. She gets offended easily but really loves putting on a show. She is a strong, independent female. She screams when grain is 30 seconds late, but waits for a kiss on her nose before eating it. In short, she keeps us on our toes! We honestly had no idea how she was going to perform, as this was her first trip off farm. She seemed to like it!

She won the Morgan mares in-hand, was 2nd in the Justin Morgan standard, won the green horse pleasure and the green horse eq!

I want to thank Tucker for having the ability to set her up and get out of her way. She was a sight to see! Unfortunately her biggest fan Rick was hauling horses home and we have no photos from her saddle classes. There will be more opportunities!

I want to thank all those involved who brought us together with Lucy. I am honored to have been chosen. She has a home for life here. ā¤ļø

Selah First Knights Kiss is a 3yo Morgan mare owned by Chelsea Clark. She was stated under saddle on Feb 23rd. Rosie has done all the riding, with the exception of a couple rides when her schedule got too busy. She has done a great job with ā€œBeckyā€. The mare has a great mind and is beautiful. This was her first time in the show ring.

The pair stood 3rd in the Morgan mares in hand, 5th in the Justin Morgan Standard, 3rd in the green horse pleasure and 4th in green horse eq. They also competed in intro a and b. They received positive comments from the judge!

Taking a 3.yo with 3 months under saddle into their first show is not for the faint of heart! Rosie did a great job with Becky. She had a great experience and we look forward to her season in the green horse division!

Julia showed program owned Valley Acres Shining Star (Ernie) at Heart’s Delight. She has only ridden Ernie about a dozen times, but they brought their A game! They won the Morgan geldings in-hand, 3rd in the Morgan pleasure limit, won the Morgan ladies pleasure , were 2nd in the Morgan pleasure and won the open English pleasure championship! They ended the show high point Morgan! Julia is looking forward to more opportunities to show this handsome guy!!!

Elsa and Equinox Vivacious (Viva) had a great weekend!! Viva is 4 and has only been under saddle since early March. After the initial backing, Elsa has done all the riding!! She and this spicy mare have really created a bond. And they are A-dorable together!!

They finished 3rd in the Justin Morgan Standard, 2nd in the green horse eq and 2nd in the green horse pleasure! There were some proud tears of joy! Viva is not the bravest. And Elsa really dug deep to provide all the confidence the mare needed. It worked out!

They also showed intro a and b. They finished 4th in A. They got some really nice remarks from the judge. All in all, we could not have asked for a better debut for Viva. Great things to come for these two!

Sally and her appy mare Obvless Jewels Dream, aka Annaka, had a fun show! Sally decided mid winter that she wanted to show again this season. Annaka went into the training program in Feb and she is looking fantastic! The pair started our show off with a win in a 12 horse showmanship! They also competed in the dressage arena and got a 2nd in the intro a!

Annaka has never competed in a canter class. Rosie has been working hard with her over the last couple of months. Rosie was able to get Annaka successfully around the ring in some big classes. Annaka needs a little more conditioning to balance her canter, but she makes progress every day and has a great season ahead of her! She is available for a half lease if anyone wants to stand out in the ring!

Katie and Equinox Dress Blues partnered up again this year after working apart last season. They picked up right where they left off!

They were 6th in the Morgan geldings in-hand, 4th in the beginner rider eq and 2nd in the beginner rider pleasure!

I look forward to watching these two old friends this season. Katie is excited to share her buddy with some young kids just starting out in Leadline and pee-wee!

Rachel and Townshend Mark The Journey (Pip) had an excellent show ring debut. Pip had a winning season last year in the Green Horse division. Rachel had a winning season with Neb in the w/t division. Rachel is a beautiful rider who really listens to her coach and really puts in the work. So I felt she would be a good match for Pip, who had only been under saddle for about 6 months when they were paired up. They have worked all winter. And when you are paired with a green horse, you learn a lot of lessons. Some of them on the ground! But Rachel digs deep. She bakes great cookies (iykyk) she and Pip have made huge strides!

They finished 6th in showmanship, 5th in the Morgan geldings in-hand, 1st in the beginner rider eq, 1st in the beginner rider pleasure and 4th in the beginner rider command. They also placed 4th in beginner rider trail and logged very respectable dressage scores in intro a and b. They finished reserve high point in the beginner division!

The beginning of a very fun season!!

Jack and EF Illumination In Motion showed at Heart’s Delight as well. ā€œCometā€ is all show horse and requires a lot of skill to drive in the ring. Jack drove Comet in Jack’s show ring debut the week before at Greater Boston. He gained a lot of experience as there are very few opportunities to drive locally.

At Heart’s Delight, Jack also competed in his first ever in hand class. He and Comet won the Justin Morgan Standard class!! A good start! They finished 2nd in the Novice driving.

If these two ever make it into a class that calls for the reverse and trot, they will be unstoppable! šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚. Comet does not have time for all this walking business.

What does growth look like? It’s pushing yourself out of your comfort zone. It’s not being afraid to fail. It’s getting up, dusting yourself off and trying again. And again. And again.

Kinsley is new to riding. She showed our best boy Blues in the pee-wee division very successfully last year. This year she is partnered with the high powered UVM Nebula. This 21yo mare has never been late to any function in her life! She is the epitome of a Morgan. Plow the fields all week and look great going to church on Sunday!! šŸ˜‚

These two have really come together at home, but in the ring, Neb really turns it on. Kinsley wasn’t 100% ready for the energy Neb brings to the ring. They struggled in their first saddle class. But, Kinsley showed what she is made of and worked on it and showed much better in the next class. I expect a lot of success from these two this season. Neb is a consistent producer and Kinsley is a beautiful rider.

Keep your eye on these two! There will be plenty of blue ribbon pics in the future!
