🦋 Butterfly Body Lock Defense Drill 🦋
Professor Brian shows a practical drill to defend and create offense when your opponent has a body lock in butterfly guard:
You start with butterfly hooks while your partner has the body lock.
Cover their elbows and lock your hands together.
Forward shift to create space and posture up.
Rock backwards onto your side to off-balance them.
Your partner’s goal is to keep you flat on your back and stop you from off-balancing them.
This is an excellent drill for building strong hand fighting, posture, and learning how to turn a defensive body lock situation into an opportunity to recover or sweep.
Switch roles often and stay active with your hands!
