🥋 When you want to kick HIGH… sometimes you need a little BOOST! 😂🚀

At Azad’s Martial Arts Center, we take building confident kids seriously…

But we definitely don’t take ourselves too seriously! 😄

Sometimes a young Jongshindo student just needs Grandmaster Azad to provide a little extra “air support” to reach the target! 😂🥋🚀

Look at that kick! And even better—look at the smiles on the kids watching. ❤️

Moms, this is what we want Jongshindo Martial Arts to feel like for your child:

“I CAN DO THIS!”

A place where kids are encouraged to try, challenged to grow, allowed to laugh, and surrounded by instructors who genuinely want to see them succeed.

Because when kids love where they learn, they love learning. And somewhere between the kicks, high-fives, laughter, and “Can I do it again?!”… they’re developing confidence, courage, discipline, and a belief in themselves that can reach far beyond the training floor.

And yes… at Azad’s Martial Arts Center, Grandmaster-assisted flying kicks are occasionally included. 😂🚀🥋

Helping kids reach new heights since 1985—sometimes literally! ❤️

WE COULDN’T BE PROUDER OF HER. ❤️🥋

Today, she earned her white belt at Azad’s Martial Arts Center.

To some, it may look like the first belt.

We see something much bigger.

We see a woman who made the decision to show up for herself.

To learn.
To challenge herself.
To become stronger.
To improve her health.
To learn how to protect herself.
And to continue growing mentally, physically and spiritually.

There is something incredibly inspiring about a woman who refuses to put an age limit on becoming stronger.👍🥳

Strength has no expiration date.
Confidence has no age limit.
And personal growth never has to stop.

That is why we are so proud of her today.👏👏👏

Not simply because she earned a white belt—but because she had the pure courage to begin a new journey.

And perhaps there is another woman reading this right now who has been thinking about doing something for herself…

Getting healthier.
Becoming stronger.
Learning self-defense.
Building confidence.
Trying something she never thought she could do.

Maybe her smile is the reminder you needed:

IT IS NEVER TOO LATE TO BEGIN BECOMING THE STRONGEST VERSION OF YOU.🥋🥋🥋🥋🥋

Congratulations on earning your white belt! We are so proud to have you as part of the Azad’s family. ❤️

NO CHILD SHOULD WALK INTO SCHOOL FEELING UNPREPARED. 🎒❤️

For many of us, buying pencils, notebooks, binders, or a new backpack is simply part of getting ready for school.

But for some local families, those basic supplies can be a real financial burden.

And teachers know this better than anyone. They see the children who arrive without the supplies they need—and too often, teachers quietly reach into their own pockets to help.

That’s why we’re bringing our community together again for Azad’s Annual Back-to-School Supplies Drive! ✏️📚

We are collecting new school supplies and cash donations through August 31st to help local children start their school year feeling prepared, confident, and included.

You don’t have to give a lot to make a difference.

A backpack.
A box of pencils.
A few notebooks.
Markers. Crayons. Paper.
Even a small cash donation.

When a community gives a little together, we can accomplish a lot. ❤️

🚨 CHICO MOMS & DADS: BEFORE YOU SEND THEM BACK TO SCHOOL… GIVE THEM SOMETHING A BACKPACK CAN’T CARRY. ❤️🎒

Imagine your child walking onto campus this year…

A bigger kid starts picking on them.
A friend pressures them to do something they know isn’t right.
Or an adult approaches them in a way that makes them uncomfortable.

Would your child know what to do?

Would they freeze?
Would they be afraid to speak up?
Would they know when to walk away, when to get help—and how to protect themselves if they had to?

As parents, we do everything we can to protect our children.

But we can’t be beside them every moment of every day.

What we can do is prepare them for the moments when we’re not there. ❤️

That’s why Azad’s Martial Arts Center is opening our doors to Chico families for a FREE Back-to-School Safety & Confidence Workshop! 🥋🎉

This is NOT about teaching kids to fight.

It’s about helping them develop the confidence to stand up for themselves, the character not to become the bully, and the awareness to recognize potentially dangerous situations.

────────

💡 WHAT YOUR CHILD WILL WALK AWAY WITH:

Not just “fun activities”… but real-life skills they can use immediately:

🛡️ HOW NOT TO BECOME A BULLY
Respect, empathy, kindness, self-control, and leadership.

💪 HOW TO HANDLE BULLIES
How to use their voice, set boundaries, stay calm, get help, and protect themselves when necessary.

🚨 HOW TO STAY SAFER FROM PREDATORS
Age-appropriate awareness, recognizing warning signs, trusting their instincts, and knowing what to do when something doesn’t feel right.

🥋 CONFIDENCE & PRACTICAL SELF-DEFENSE
Helping children understand that real strength isn’t about fighting—it’s about confidence, awareness, and making smart choices.

────────

🎉 AND YES… IT’S GOING TO BE FUN!

They’ll move.
They’ll laugh.
They’ll learn.
They’ll make new friends.

And most importantly… they’ll leave feeling:

✨ More confident
✨ More aware

❤️🥋 FROM THE AZAD’S ARCHIVES

A former teenage (I’m deliberately not sharing her name without her permission) student sent me these old photographs recently, along with words that touched me deeply:

“A lot of people developed in the halls of that building… became the best people they/we could be thanks to you in big part.”

Then she added something I love:

“Haha, always present like a parent. That’s how a lot of us saw you.”

That one really got me. ❤️

Today, the teenager in these photographs is all grown up and has become an outstanding wife and mom herself.

When I look back at these old pictures, I realize that while we were teaching kicks, falls, self-defense and martial arts, something much more important was happening. 🥋🥋🥋

We were growing up together.

I watched young students become teenagers, teenagers become adults, and many of those adults eventually become wonderful parents themselves.

As instructors, we don’t always know what part we may play in a young person’s life. We simply show up, care about them, challenge them, believe in them m, motivate them to become the best version of themselves and try to be there when they need us.

Decades later, hearing words like these is worth more to me than any belt, title or award.

To all my former students: thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey. 🙏❤️

And if you have an old Azad’s photo hiding in a box somewhere, send it my way. I’d love to see it—and hear where life has taken you.

❤️ THIS is why we do what we do at Azad’s Martial Arts Center. 🥋🥋🥋

Every once in a while, a parent shares something that reminds our entire team that what happens on the mat can reach far beyond Jongshindo martial arts.

One of our wonderful Azad’s moms, Vianey, shared these words about her daughter and their family. With her permission, we wanted to share her message with you:

“When our family and our kid found themselves in a position of needing support after having to protect herself in a situation, they were our soft place to land. While I’ve always hesitated to share the ‘why’ as we’d be students regardless, these folks have really kept wind under our wings.

Thank you Grandmaster Azad and Miss Gracie Miranda for helping build up my little girl and our family.

Happy one year to my now green belt princess. I’m so proud of you! As a mom who did sports and fine arts I’m really mindful of not wanting my kids to feel like they have to do the same thing. To see my daughter really own her training, even at such a young age, is so lovely, but the ease as a parent is everything. To little girls who’ll be unafraid and to building confident youth, and adults.

Proud dojang family 💕”

Vianey, thank you for trusting us with something far more precious than martial arts training—your child. ❤️

And [my daughter], we are incredibly proud of the confident young lady you are becoming. Keep growing, keep learning, and keep believing in yourself. 🥋💪❤️

For more than four decades, this has been our purpose at Azad’s: helping children develop the confidence, skills, character and courage they can carry with them wherever life takes them.

This is bigger than belts.
Bigger than kicks.
Bigger than any style of martial arts.

It’s about helping raise strong, confident and capable young people. ❤️
