Training equipment should help you communicate more clearly, not do the training for you.

The Tender Touch Training Package gives riders another resource for developing feel, responsiveness, and communication as a horse progresses in its training.

As with any bit or training tool, the important question isn’t simply “Is this a good bit?” It’s “Is this the right tool for this horse, at this point in its training?”

Every horse has different strengths and weaknesses, and learning to recognize those differences is part of becoming a better horseman.

Sharon Camarillo explains why this training package is one you need...

Your reins shouldn’t have to do all the work.

A responsive horse learns to read the rider’s entire body: your seat, weight, legs, position, and timing. If your horse isn’t listening to your seat, adding more rein isn’t necessarily going to solve the problem.

Before you ask for more from your hands, ask yourself: What is the rest of my body telling my horse?

The goal is communication, not correction after correction.

Good horsemanship starts with teaching the horse to recognize the smallest cue possible.

Breathing is part of the workload.

Respiratory load isn’t simply how many breaths a horse takes. It also includes the effort required to move that air. As exercise becomes more demanding, horses need to move more air, and resistance through the airway increases the work required with each breath.

Because horses breathe exclusively through their noses during exercise, supporting the nasal passages can help reduce one source of that resistance. FLAIR® Equine Nasal Strips are designed to support the soft tissues over the nasal passages, helping reduce tissue collapse and the work required to breathe.

For the barrel horse, breathing is part of performance, too.

Proud to have FLAIR Equine Nasal Strips supporting Team Camarillo.

A balanced horse needs to be able to work confidently in both directions.

The All Left/All Right Exercise gives you an opportunity to isolate each direction and pay attention to where your horse feels different from one side to the other.

Does your horse stay equally responsive? Is one turn easier to shape? Does one side feel stiffer, heavier, or less balanced?

Exercises like this aren’t about drilling the pattern. They’re about identifying the little weaknesses in training before speed exposes them.

Take your time, ride with purpose, and pay attention to what your horse is telling you.

There’s a reason the STS Aluminum Stirrup has been a Barrel Racing Superstore bestseller.

Developed by Sharon Camarillo with Straight Time Stirrups, these lightweight, one-piece aluminum stirrups were designed with the performance rider in mind. The tapered hanger rod helps create an angle intended to relieve stress on the lower-body joints while providing greater stability when weight is applied to the stirrup.

A small piece of equipment can make a noticeable difference in how secure and comfortable you feel in the saddle.

The STS Aluminum Stirrup is currently listed as backordered, so contact Barrel Racing Superstore to get on the waitlist for availability.

Sometimes it isn’t your horse slowing down the pattern. It’s something happening in your own body.

Dropping an inside shoulder, reaching for the horn too early, leaning forward, tightening through your thighs, or looking down at the barrel can all change the signals you’re giving your horse.

Your horse feels the little things, especially at speed.

Next time you make a run, pay attention to what your body is doing through the approach, turn, and exit. Small adjustments in the rider can make a big difference in the horse.

Which of these habits have you caught yourself doing? 👀

Less wasted hay means more money in your pocket and less time spent cleaning up. 🙌

Texas Haynets are designed to help your herd get more out of every bale. Customers report cutting hay expenses by 30–50% by reducing waste, with many getting an additional 3–7 days from a big bale.

That means you can save hay, save money, and spend less time cleaning up what your horses and livestock leave behind.

Thank you to Texas Haynet for supporting Team Camarillo!

A saddle should do more than keep you on your horse. It should help put you in a position where you can ride effectively.

I developed the Team Camarillo Speedster with the competitive barrel racer in mind. Its centered, balanced seat is designed to help keep the rider correctly aligned throughout the run, while wider fenders and STS aluminum stirrups provide stability through the turns.

For the horse, the shorter cutout skirt helps eliminate unnecessary weight and pressure on the back.

Because when horse and rider are both comfortable, balanced, and able to move freely, you can focus on the run ahead. 🐴

Speed alone will not make the run.

You have to trust the foundation you built at home. Trust your preparation. Trust your horse to do their job, and make sure you have given them a reason to trust you to do yours.

When the pressure is on, you do not have time to teach. You have to rely on what you have already prepared.

Speed gets you to the barrel. Trust gets you around it. 🐴
