OFFERED: UNIVERSITY OF PITT–JOHNSTOWN

One of the premier prospects in the Class of 2028 continues to build an impressive recruiting résumé.

George Washington standout Dominic Sprouse, a 6’4” shooting guard, has received an offer from the University of Pitt–Johnstown, marking the fourth college offer of his young career. His other offers include Kentucky Christian University, West Virginia Wesleyan, and Fairmont State.

Sprouse already possesses a college-ready frame heading into his junior season and has established himself as one of the most complete players in the Mountain State. As just a sophomore, he helped lead George Washington to a WVSSAC Class AAAA State Championship, earned First Team All-State honors, and is ranked as the No. 1 player in West Virginia’s 2028 class by the majority of recruiting services.

His combination of size, athleticism, shot-making ability, and versatility makes him one of the most coveted young prospects in the region. Every time he steps on the floor, Sprouse continues to show why his recruitment is gaining momentum.

At D&D Sports Network, we expect Dominic to add a long list of Division I offers over the next couple of years. The ceiling is incredibly high, and he’s only scratching the surface of what he can become.

Congratulations to Dominic Sprouse on another outstanding opportunity!

Dominic Sprouse: Rising Star in West Virginia for George Washington High School Basketball

Dominic Sprouse, a 6’4” shooting guard/combo guard in the class of 2028, has quickly established himself as one of West Virginia’s top basketball talents at George Washington High School in Charleston. Known for his smooth shooting stroke, quick release, size on the wing, and ability to score from all three levels, Sprouse played a key role in the Patriots’ success during his sophomore campaign.

In his sophomore season (2025-26), Sprouse averaged approximately 15.2 points per game while helping lead George Washington to the Class AAAA state championship. He earned First Team All-State honors as the only sophomore selected to the first or second team in his conference/area recognitions. Sprouse delivered clutch performances throughout the postseason, including double-digit scoring in key tournament games—such as 10 points in the state semifinals and a standout 28-point effort (including perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line in the closing stages) in the championship victory over Spring Mills. His shooting efficiency, particularly from beyond the arc (around 40% in stretches), and ability to stretch defenses made him a constant threat.

Beyond high school, Sprouse has excelled with the WV Gold (Puma PRO16 / WV Gold Hoops) program on the AAU circuit. He has posted strong numbers in various events, including averages of 15.0–16.1 PPG, 5+ RPG, and 40%+ from three in Puma PRO16 action. Sprouse has shone in clutch moments, such as dropping 18 points in a comeback win (including a game-tying and-one and a go-ahead three) and lighting it up with 36 points (8-of-13 from three) in one Midwest Live showcase game. Scouts have praised his pure shooting mechanics, confidence in big shots, and versatility as a catch-and-shoot threat who can also create off the dribble.

As a highly regarded prospect (ranked as West Virginia’s No. 1 player in the 2028 class), Sprouse already holds college offers and continues to draw attention from Division I programs. With his work ethic, academics (noted 4.7 GPA), and on-court production, he is poised for an even bigger junior year at George Washington while making noise on the national AAU scene with WV Gold.

Sprouse represents the next wave of talent from West Virginia high school basketball— a sharpshooter with championship pedigree already under his belt.
