Never trust everything you see on social media. People pick and choose what to post so that way they show only the good. I know I have, but I’m going to be transparent.
Bringing home a baby has not been easy. The day we came home from the NICU and saw the dogs, Otter attacked Knox. It was not good and poor Knox took a beating. Currently, he lives with my parents and their senior lab Mona, and Otter is home with us. I haven’t been working Otter as a service dog as I’ve been focusing on restarting his training and fixing the issue.
Knox and Otter will never be able to get back to where they were, but we will be able to coexist through crate and rotate and strict management. This was extremely hard for me to deal with in the midst of post partum depression, but the only way to go is through it. We’ve been making slow progress and they’re able to go on walks together with 6 feet apart.
This was not what I had hoped for, but I’m thankful that everyone is alright and that we have an incredible support system that can help us through it all.
