Chambersburg Ballet The Chambersburg Ballet provides classical ballet instruction, training and performance art. Ms. In 2023, Ms. During Ms. Reid could step into retirement.

The Chambersburg Ballet was founded in 1999 by Lavinia Reid when she established the Chambersburg Ballet Theatre (CBT) School with the mission to provide true classical ballet instruction and performance art in Franklin County. Reid was recruited to Chambersburg by the local Chamber of Commerce and Council for the Arts to help with downtown revitalization efforts and to serve as an anchor tenant i

n the Capitol Theatre, which had undergone an extensive renovation at the time. Reid stepped down as Artistic Director of the school and its affiliated dance company. Reid's tenure, she taught over 600 students and produced scores of shows which thousands of patrons have seen over the years including the holiday family classic, The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, The Velveteen Rabbit and more. The Chambersburg Ballet Guild, the 501 c 3 non-profit affiliate of the Chambersburg Ballet Theatre (CBT) School, assumed operations of the school and dance company in August 2023 so Ms. The Chambersburg Ballet Guild hired a new Artistic Director, Brian Grant, who hit the ground running in the same month. The guild completed a purchase of the CBT School in September 2023 and currently operates both the school and dance company. The Chambersburg Ballet provides the best possible education in ballet and associated disciplines to students age 3 and up, with individualized instruction in ballet, pointe, partnering, and classical variations (brief dances from the great classical ballets which equate to the study of etudes in music), master classes with Guest Faculty, as well as studies in contemporary dance forms. The Chambersburg Ballet provides a nurturing, non-discriminatory atmosphere, where serious students can be on track to eventually transfer or graduate to a professional program, and recreational students can enjoy the best in training while enjoying family life, the study of music, and school activities. Teens and adults are welcome and encouraged to study. Performance opportunities abound, with professional guest artists providing inspiration as they share the stage with students of the Chambersburg Ballet.

Some moments are especially rewarding because they reflect the hard work, dedication, and artistry of our dancers. ❤️

While Chambersburg Ballet is **not a competition school**, we believe that performance opportunities are an important part of a dancer’s continued learning and artistic development. Our students have opportunities to perform throughout the year, and when a dancer has an interest in competing, our Artistic Director is available to provide coaching and support.

Last spring, two of our company dancers - Fiona Morris and Jayden Hull - took the stage at **Talent Explosion**—and placed at the top in the ballet categories! 🩰🏆

📢Join us on August 29th, 2026 at 11:00-1:00pm for our annual Company Audition!

All dancers ages 11 thru Adult are invited to join us for this season-long program. When you join the Company, you get priority casting in all of our Mainstage Productions, and a complimentary “Company Class” on Saturdays from 11:00am-12:30pm each week!

There is no tuition fee for Company, but there will be applied a $100 Production fee per Mainstage production throughout the season (Up to $300 per season)

You do not need to be a part of Chambersburg Ballet to be a part of our Company, though it is recommended to at least join us for a class throughout the week, depending on your individual skill. (YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE EN POINTE TO JOIN COMPANY)

There’s nothing quite like the moment when months of training come together on stage. Last season, our Company dancers brought the power, precision, and beauty of Paquita to life—and moments like this are one of the many rewards of being part of Chambersburg Ballet’s Dance Company.

For dancers ages 11 through adult, Company membership offers additional performance opportunities throughout the season, along with preferred casting in Chambersburg Ballet productions. Youth Company dancers also commit to additional classes to support the training needed for the demands of company-level performance.

One of our favorite moments from last season was bringing the magic of The Nutcracker directly to students at Falling Spring Elementary.

Through community outreach, Chambersburg Ballet works to make classical ballet accessible to diverse audiences across Franklin County. We believe that every child should have the opportunity to experience the inspiration and joy of this art form.

Some of the most meaningful moments at Chambersburg Ballet happen outside the studio.

Do you love to dance? Want to be part of a beloved holiday tradition? **Chambersburg Ballet is looking for dancers ages 5 through adult** to join us for our 2026 production of Tchaikovsky’s *The Nutcracker*! 🩰

**Ages 11 through Adult**

*Dancers must be age 11 by October 1, 2026.*

**Ages 5–10**
🕜 1:30–3:00 PM

These auditions are open to dancers from **Chambersburg, Franklin County, and surrounding areas**.

✨ **COMPANY AUDITION:**
The 11:00 AM–1:00 PM audition will also serve as our **Company Audition**. Dancers age 11 through adult who would like to be considered for Company should indicate this on the registration form.
