Beyond grateful — and beyond FIRED UP. What an absolute blessing to have such a POWERFUL turnout for our first‑ever 4‑H Sales Clinic. The energy was electric, the attitudes were unstoppable, and the commitment from kids AND parents was next‑level.

We had so many people show up we had folks STANDING in the back. That’s what massive action looks like.

Huge thank you to every single family who showed up ready to learn, grow, and push their limits. And trust me… this is only the beginning. 🚀

These kids are on a MASSIVE trajectory.
They wrote scripts.
They started building their 4‑H sales booklets.
They took their FIRST steps toward skills that will serve them for life.

If you’re looking for a reason to LEVEL UP… this is it.
At 6 PM SHARP, we’re taking over the Casper AG Building — EVANSVILLE ROOM and turning it into a high‑energy, confidence‑building, action‑packed SALES TRAINING ARENA.

And leading the charge?
GARRETT.
The guy who trains kids like they’re future champions — because they ARE.

This clinic is OPEN TO ALL SPECIES — goats, steers, pigs, sheep, rabbits, poultry… if you’ve got a project, BRING IT.

If your calves are click‑clacking around like they’re auditioning for a Clydesdale commercial instead of the show ring, it’s time to fix those FEET.

Newkirk Cattle is rolling down from Powell — yes, THAT Newkirk crew — to take care of hoof trimming on Sunday, April 12th. If your cattle need their toes tuned up before the season kicks off, this is your moment.

💥 BUT HOLD YOUR HORSES (and your heifers) 💥
This is BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
I’ve only got about 30 spots, and once they’re gone, they’re GONE.
Do NOT just show up like it’s a county‑fair free‑for‑all. I’ve gotta schedule this out so we don’t end up with a hoof‑trimming traffic jam.

Alright Beef Peeps… buckle up because we’re about to break down HOW SALE PLACEMENT WORKS and HOW PERFORMANCE DRIVE WORKS in a way that EVERYONE — parents, big kids, little kids — can understand.
And YES… I want your thoughts, your questions, your “wait… what?” moments. Drop them ALL in the comments. Let’s make this fun.

💥 FIRST — BOTH PROGRAMS REQUIRE A MINIMUM WEIGHT OF 1000 POUNDS.
If your animal isn’t at least 1000 lbs, it can’t compete in either system. Easy rule. Easy win.

💥 SECOND — PERFORMANCE DRIVE DOES NOT AFFECT YOUR SALE PLACEMENT.

🥩 1. HOW SALE PLACEMENT WORKS (ULTRASOUND DATA)
This is what determines your ranking for the sale.
The ultrasound gives us REAL carcass info, and the sale ranking uses:

- Carcass weight
- Quality grade
- Yield grade
- All valued using the current USDA pricing sheet

This is the “market” side — the business side — the part that tells buyers what your animal is worth.

🏆 2. HOW PERFORMANCE DRIVE WORKS (ALSO ULTRASOUND… BUT TOTALLY DIFFERENT PURPOSE!)
This is a separate contest with its own awards, its own champions, and its own bragging rights.

Performance Drive looks at:

1. Rate of gain — with a goal of 2.75 lbs per day
2. Ribeye evaluation
- Ribeye area
- Ribeye ratio (calculated from ribeye area + weight)
3. Backfat
4. Intramuscular fat (marbling)

This contest is about how well you fed, grew, and developed your project — not where you land in the sale.

And YES — Performance Drive crowns its own Grand Champion and Reserve Champion.

Cold weather tried to slow us down, but the kids (and parents!) showed up like absolute CHAMPIONS.
