Group classes are a great place for beginners to learn.

But that doesn't mean they're *only* for beginners.

As dancers improve, group classes can still be a great place to learn new material, strengthen familiar patterns, work on timing and partnering, and get more comfortable actually dancing with what you know.

And here's something experienced dancers figure out pretty quickly:

**You can almost always get better at something you've already learned.**

The pattern might be familiar, but your timing, technique, connection, lead, follow, or overall understanding can continue to improve.

There's a reason good dancers keep going back to class.

Learning the steps is only the beginning. 😄

❤️ **Better Together**

Have you ever wished you and your significant other had something you could do together?

Something that's *yours*.

That's actually one of the reasons many couples first walk through our doors.

One of our students recently shared this about why she and her husband started dancing:

*"We started because we wanted to have something we do together. Life is crazy and we needed to intentionally connect. This has been great for that."*

And we love that reason.

Dance lessons give you more than somewhere to go together. You're learning something together. You're figuring things out together. You're laughing at the mistakes, celebrating when something finally clicks, and building a skill you can actually enjoy together outside of the studio.

Sometimes learning to dance starts with something as simple as...

Playful, energetic, and just a little cheeky, Cha-Cha is a dance that knows how to have fun!

Its signature “cha-cha-cha” action gives the dance its recognizable look and lively personality. While Cha-Cha has strong Latin roots, it can be danced to plenty of familiar pop and contemporary music, making it a fun and useful addition to your social dancing.

Our Cha-Cha class meets Wednesdays at 6:15 PM, and you can join us at any time! Each class is designed so you can jump in and learn, even if you weren’t with us the week before. No previous dance experience or partner is required.

**Behind the Scenes: Why Our Instructors Walk Around During Group Classes**

If you've been in one of our group classes, you've probably noticed that our instructors don't always stay at the front of the room.

Once we've introduced the material, we like to get out on the floor and work with you.

There's a reason for that.

Everyone in a group class may be learning the same material, but that doesn't mean everyone needs the same help.

One person may be working through the foot placement. Someone else may have a question about timing. Another dancer may be ready to focus on their lead or follow, while someone who's taken the class before may be working on an entirely different pattern.

Walking around gives us an opportunity to see what *you* are doing and help with what *you* need in that moment.

It also gives you a chance to ask questions that may not apply to the entire room.

Group classes are group learning—but we never want that to mean you're just another person standing in the group.

And that's why our instructors get out on the floor and work with students individually during group classes. 💃🕺

**Give Your Partner Time to Respond**

Partner dancing isn't supposed to be a race to the next step.

Leaders, communicate what you want and then be patient. Give your partner time to receive the information and respond to it.

Followers often feel like they're "under the gun" to react quickly or risk being behind. That pressure can actually encourage them to anticipate instead of waiting to feel the lead.

Followers, give yourself permission to wait. Don't move simply because you recognize what you think is coming next. Instead of letting your eyes tell you what to do, practice listening through the connection. Let what you feel from your partner guide your response.

Leaders communicate.
Followers listen and respond.
And both partners give that process time to happen.

That's where lead and follow really starts to feel like a partnership.
