πŸ’ƒ Here's a preview of our July Rumba Amalgamation!

One of the things we love about this sequence is that it blends some familiar Rumba basics with a few more interesting patterns and combinations, creating a routine that's both fun to dance and rewarding to learn.

For experienced dancers, amalgamation classes are a great opportunity to:

βœ… Connect patterns together more naturally
βœ… Improve timing, body action, and movement
βœ… Apply fundamental techniques in a practical way
βœ… Explore new pattern combinations
βœ… Develop smoother, more confident social dancing

Because the sequence builds logically from one figure to the next, it gives dancers a chance to focus on *how* they dance, not just *what* they dance.

Take a look at next month's routine and let us know what you think! πŸ‘‡

A lot of people are surprised when they find out we have a Game Night & Potluck Party every month.

Not because of the games...

But because they realize we're not just a place where people come to dance.

We're a community.

Once a month, students, friends, family members, and guests get together to relax, play games, socialize, and enjoy each other's company.

Some people dance.
Some people play games.
Some people do both.

And honestly, that's exactly how we like it.

One of the things we love most about ballroom dancing is that it brings people together. The friendships, conversations, laughs, and memories often end up being just as meaningful as the dancing itself.

If you've ever wondered what it's like to be part of the R&J Ballroom community, this is a pretty good glimpse ❀️

❀️ One of our favorite traditions each year...

This past week we had the opportunity to gather for our annual scholarship luncheon with students from McKinley Senior High School's Career Technical Education program for the Performing Arts.

The luncheon gives us a chance to welcome our newest recipients of the Pay It Forward scholarship, introduce them to the sponsors who helped make their scholarships possible, and spend some time getting to know one another before the summer begins.

We're incredibly grateful to the donors who invest in these students, the educators who help guide them, and the young performers who continue to inspire us with their passion, creativity, and dedication.

A special thank you as well to the McKinley Performing Arts leadership team for their continued partnership and support.

We're excited to begin working with this year's scholarship recipients and can't wait to see what they accomplish this summer. πŸ’–

πŸ’‘ Dance Myth of the Day:

"Good dancers don't make mistakes."

Not true.

Good dancers make mistakes all the time.

The difference is that they keep going.

One of the biggest skills dancers develop isn't perfect footworkβ€”it's the ability to stay calm, keep moving, and continue enjoying the dance when something unexpected happens.

In fact, most people watching won't even notice many of the mistakes dancers worry about.

So the next time something doesn't go as planned...

Smile.
Keep dancing.
And remember that confidence often matters more than perfection πŸ‘

Did you know we offer monthly memberships? πŸ‘€

Many of our students take advantage of membership options that can include:

βœ… Unlimited access to 40+ group classes each month
βœ… Private lessons each month
βœ… Discounts and additional benefits depending on the membership level

And memberships can start as low as **$120 per month**.

For dancers who enjoy attending classes regularly, memberships are often one of the most affordable ways to stay involved, continue learning, and get the most out of everything happening at the studio.

We also offer membership and package options that include additional private lessons for those looking for more personalized instruction.

Not sure what option is the best fit for you? Feel free to ask one of our instructorsβ€”we're happy to help πŸ‘

"How should I practice?"

It's one of the most common questions we get from students.

The answer might be simpler than you think πŸ˜„

In this video, Rachel shares a few practical tips to help you practice more effectively, build confidence, and get more out of the time you spend dancing between lessons.

What are some things that have helped *you* when practicing? πŸ‘‡

🎬 BONUS FOOTAGE! 🎬

As many of you know, the theme of our upcoming showcase is **"Let's Go to the Movies!"**

Over the past few weeks we've been filming a bunch of silly movie-inspired clips, and unfortunately we won't have time to finish editing all of them before the showcase.

So rather than let them sit on a hard drive forever, we figured we'd share some of our favorite extra footage πŸ˜„

Think of this as the director's cut... or maybe the blooper reel.

Either way, we hope you enjoy it!

And if you haven't grabbed your showcase tickets yet, now's a great time. We'd love to see you there as we celebrate all the hard work our students have put into their performances πŸŽ₯πŸ’ƒπŸ•Ί
