We continue to have "open range" time on Sundays from 1-3 pm with Range Safety Officers present. (Please check facebook for cancellations.) If you intend to use the biathlon venue, your US Biathlon and Telemark Biathlon memberships do need to be active. Our membership period is aligned with theirs, so you may have gotten membership renewal notifications from them. We have ammo available for purchase, and club owned rifles available for use at the range as well.
We have added a volunteer hub page on our website, where you can log volunteer hours and mileage. We are also pleased to offer a $20 discount on your future TBC membership if you complete RSO training with US Biathlon and volunteer as a RSO at least four times in the membership year. You must be a US Biathlon member at the coach level. The difference in cost from a standard participant to a coach level is $20, so by volunteering with us, you can subsidize that expense.
Our youth training program is going well! Many thanks to Jose and Dave Nelson for coaching this amazing crew. Several of them will be participating at the upcoming Midwest Regional Summer Championships at Ariens Nordic Center.
TBC has also partnered with the Hayward Curling Club to purchase a chip timing system for training and small events. And so far, the system is working great! (What’s the curling club need a timing system for you ask? They sponsor an annual paddle triathlon - the Tricky Trout Triathlon that takes place at the end of July, so this is a good shared resource for the two new clubs.)
Work continues on the biathlon venue. Twelve targets are installed in the frames, with a few things still to get added. Later this year, Birkie plans to integrate the biathlon venue into the roller ski loops which will be an exciting addition.
TBC still has some great gear remaining for purchase, including some dry fit T shirts and long sleeve hoodies, Columbia jackets, beanies. Reach out if interested in purchasing some gear and supporting the club.
