Has anyone ever seen anything like this!?

Durring Missouri r***e season in 2023 I was walking into a spot to check a trail camera when I spotted this buck.

I put a sneak attack on him for a few hundred yards before I realized he had a problem and no sneaking was needed.

I left him in the same condition and came back the next day with a guy who was going to finish him off. But he was no where to be found.

R***e season ended, I dumped out bags of corn to see what bucks had survived the orange army. This buck was one of the first to show up. Seemed completely normal. I had him on camera the rest of the winter and the following year (2024)

My best guess, completely rutted down in some way. To the point of nearly dieing. Maybe a fight had caused this or just ran does that hard. Iv never seen it before or after. Have you?
