🛟It's National Water Safety Day!!!!!🛟
🏊♂️Thank you to our NHA swimmers for this presentation on how to be safe at our pool!!!🏊♀️
❗️Here are Essential Water Safety Rules near all bodies of water❗️
💦Learn Water Competency: Ensure everyone knows how to enter, stay afloat, swim, and exit the water.
👨👩👧👧Supervise Closely: Never leave children unattended. Avoid distractions like phones, especially when children are in or near water.
🧑🏻🤝🧑🏾Swim with a Buddy: Never swim alone. A buddy can help or call for assistance if an emergency occurs.
🦺Use Life Jackets: Wear U.S. Coast Guard-approved life vests when boating or if you are an inexperienced swimmer.
⭕️Designated Areas & Lifeguards: Swim only in areas supervised by a lifeguard.
👣Feet First Entry: Enter water feet-first to avoid injuries, particularly in shallow or unfamiliar areas.
🚫🍻Stay Sober: Avoid alcohol, which impairs judgment and coordination, while swimming or boating.
🛟Reach, Throw, Don't Go: If someone is in trouble, reach or throw a flotation device. Do not jump in to save someone, as it can lead to multiple drownings.
🫁Avoid Breath-Holding Games: Do not play games holding your breath, as this can lead to shallow water blackout.
🌊Check Conditions: Look for hazards like, rip currents, strong winds, and cold water. At beaches, watch for warning flags. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
