SNEAK PEEK - 12 LAWS OF CONSCIOUS PARENTING - CHAPTER #3 - Law of Congruence, The Mirror Within
INTRODUCING
Three – Part Alignment Model
Congruence begins with bringing three parts of our experience into greater awareness:
Thoughts: What am I telling myself?
Feelings: What am I actually experiencing?
Actions: What am I expressing in the world?
These three parts are constantly communicating with one another.
Our thoughts influence how we interpret an experience.
Our feelings give us information about what is happening within us.
Our actions communicate something outwardly to the people around us.
When those three are generally aligned, we experience congruence. When they are telling three different stories, we can experience internal tension.
I might be thinking, I'm fine.
My body might be saying, I'm overwhelmed.
My behavior might be saying, "don't come near me?
That is incongruence. Children are often remarkably sensitive and naturally highly in tuned to these differences.
They may sense it but not understand completely or have the language to communicate what they are experiencing.
The incongruence causes:
>> Feelings of disconnect to themselves and others.
>> Spiked feelings of anxiety.
>> Emotional dysregulations
>> Erratic mood fluctuations
>> Scattered thoughts
We may see the behaviors as a result of what is happening internally - There is much more happening BENEATH THE SURFACE.
OUR CHILDREN DON'T JUST LEARN FROM WHAT WE SAY. THEY LEARN FROM THE ALIGNMENT OR MISALIGNMENT BETWEEN WHAT WE THINK, WHAT WE FEEL, AND HOW WE SHOW UP.
