Member Appreciation Monday: Justin Voight. Though dad life/sports dad occupies most of his time, he still find's time to break away and help out at the track. If you were wondering who the beefcake was stripping down at Turn 3 last race, that was Justin. Quick to grab a flag and help with a corner, then hop on a bike and win a race, he has been around the club longer than most and is always a huge help.

Member Appreciation Monday: Derek Blomgren. Derek is one of the solid moto dads out there that make the club great. He’s always there for his moto kids and helps out where he can around the club. Lately you’ll find him as Souz Chef in the kitchen or grabbing a flag on a corner. With members like Derek, races run smoove.

Fun Police Post: We've had some complaints, and they are legit and as a club we need to do a better job enforcing. September's races will be inspecting bikes at the paddock. No kickstands. No front brakes for Short Track. Age requirements will be better enforced at registration. A club cannot push a CC requirement complaint. If you want someone inspected you need to front the $300 for tear down, which is returned to you if your complaint is correct, or goes to the ride owner if it is a false complaint.

Member Appreciation Monday. Going a little off script here....though not exactly "members", The D16 Team of President William Bell (seen here posing for GQ magazine), Secretary Deedee Sumner Houpt and Treasurer Chris DaRanco (with the O.G. Judy Sumner), and Flat Track Director Shane Westphal (left), have pulled through for not only Beaver Cycle Club this year but for the sport of Flat Track as a whole. You'll see this crew at nearly every race in the District and their roots run deep into the sport. Bill is a guy that will help any time, any place. I seriously think I could tell him I am moving tomorrow and he would show up to load the U-Haul. He's that kind of dude. The FM transmitter Saturday was all with Bill's help and he's pulled through on every occasion. Deedee is a peach and helps with scoring and registration and has helped us considerably with the ins and outs of the District and things we should know as Promotors and a Club. Chris is a rock star. Cool as a cucumber when stuff is hitting the fan, she can run a race in her sleep and carries the backup equipment if all of our technology were to fail, including a Starlink. She can also pivot to the 1900's and run an entire race with scrap paper and pencil with the Sumner crew. Shane can jump in, enter an entire race into Trackside mid-race, run his heat, transfer results, and then hang out with us after like it's all a walk in the park. This team of folks as well as past Board Members that did their time in the District before are what keep flat track going and we can't thank them enough for helping out the club.

Race day gets a little hectic and adding an app that we have to run on top of everything else was low on the priority list. Tim from Berm Basher was all like “I got you fam”, and drove down from Green Bay for the race. Not only did we get Berm Basher up and running he was taking notes on optimizing it and how it could be applied better to flat track. Awesome dude and we’ll be running it every race. Check it out! The best part was riders being able to see their results before they could get their helmet off and having the lineups right on your mobile device.

I’m super grateful for the team of members that come together month after month to step up and put on a race. Race day is much more than the action packed Saturday you see. It’s weeks of prep and day after day away from your family getting a track and property ready for an event. We’ve got a great group of Prospects that jumped right in and long tenured members that step up every time. We are also immensely grateful for the help from Tom B and Azzy and the Sumner clan on working with us to lock in Trackside and transponder integration. The success is apparent in how quick the mains turned around and wrapping the races by 10p. Sunday was wrapped with cleanup and a ride day with a great member turnout. Two races left on the year and 2027 is nothing but growth. See you all Sept 12th for the Parker TT!
