Dear fans, we hope you had an exceptional Mother's Day weekend. As mentioned in our previous post, we are truly grateful for the fans who came out to watch some football during these beautiful weekends. We cannot express our gratitude enough. With that being said, the Burlington Blue Devils will proceed with Week 2. This promises to be an exciting matchup between two teams that lost in Week 1 to two formidable competitors. Both teams will be eager for a win, so it remains to be seen which one will emerge victorious.
In a conversation with the Owner and General Manager of the Burlington Blue Devils, we were informed that this week's practice, scheduled for 6pm, will focus on returning to the team's core strength: playing hard-nosed football. The coaches have reached an agreement to implement additional policies that will take effect on game days and throughout the program. With the addition of new coaches, players, and staff, we would like to remind everyone that this is a competitive sport, and we are seeking the best competitors to join us. We will provide opportunities to play for those who can meet the expectations of the coaches and staff.
The coaches' thoughts on this week's matchup are as follows:
We believe it will be a closely contested game, similar to a boxing match. Based on the film, it appears that the outcome will depend on which team can manage four quarters of football more effectively. When playing against tough competition, we tend to freeze up and get caught up in our individual responsibilities. We need to maintain our focus. When this team plays unselfishly and remains focused, the Blue Devils can easily win games by 40-50 points. We have the talent to achieve this, but the drive is not yet there. That's why we're working to correct our mistakes, as we saw what happened with the Raiders, and we don't want the Sabercats to capitalize on our errors in the same way.
In a conversation with team Captain and wide receiver Marcus Boone Jr., he shared the following thoughts:
'Everybody sees a team that struggles, but they don't understand the story behind it. For that reason, they count us out, but it's adversity that builds strength. We're shaking off the cobwebs and finding the formula to come together. We have a talented backfield, a creative receiving corps, and defensively, Coach Nate is making each week more and more challenging. The players know that Coach Nate doesn't tolerate anything less than their best, and new defensive players are joining the team each week.'
