Summer is here. The marsh is alive and the offshore bite is ON.
INSHORE: Bull reds are schooling in the shallows — sight-fish with soft plastics and topwater early morning before the heat sets in. Speckled trout are holding in cooler, deeper pockets mid-day. Move to current edges and marsh grass lines when the tide is running. Live shrimp and paddle tails are producing.
OFFSHORE: This is prime yellowfin tuna season. Fish are holding at the shelf and beyond — 30-mile runs putting you on 40-80 lb class fish when sea conditions cooperate. Blackfin are mixed in closer. Bring heavy gear and be ready for doubles.
BONUS: Bowfishing season is in full swing. Night trips on the flats = target-rich environments.
Bottom line: June in Venice means options. Reds on the flats at sunrise. Tuna at the shelf all day. Bowfishing after dark. Our guides know exactly where to put you.
Best bite: Yellowfin tuna offshore, bull reds inshore Best technique: Topwater and soft plastics for reds, live bait and jigs for tuna Best conditions: Early morning inshore, calm sea days offshore.
