🎉🌹 Happy 124th Birthday, Broken Arrow! 🌹🎉
Today, Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful celebrates more than 124 years of our city’s history. We celebrate the people, heritage, resilience, and community spirit that have shaped Broken Arrow into the place we proudly call home! ❤️
🌿 Did you know?
Broken Arrow’s name has roots in the Muscogee Creek Nation. During the forced removal of Native Americans from their homelands in the 1830s, members of a Creek community in Alabama were relocated to Indian Territory. They established a new settlement and carried its name with them, preserving a connection to their ancestral home.
That settlement, known as Rekackv in the Muscogee Creek language, was located several miles south of what is now downtown Broken Arrow.
Our city’s story is one of perseverance, transformation, and community. From its Indigenous roots and early settlements to the vibrant Rose District, beautiful parks, gardens, and neighborhoods we enjoy today, Broken Arrow continues to grow while carrying the legacy of those who came before us.
🌹 At Keep Broken Arrow Beautiful, we believe honoring our past and caring for our present go hand in hand with building a beautiful future.
Every tree planted, garden tended, public space improved, and volunteer hour contributed helps preserve the beauty and character of our community for generations to come.
As we celebrate Broken Arrow’s 124th birthday, we extend our gratitude to the residents, volunteers, organizations, and community leaders who make this city such a wonderful place to live, work, and grow.
🎂 Happy Birthday, Broken Arrow! Here’s to honoring our roots, celebrating our community, and keeping Broken Arrow beautiful for generations to come! 🌹💚
