We are still looking for a boarder or two that would fit in with our laid back, wonderful community.

RARE OPPORTUNITY!

We rarely have stall boarding available to offer, but we actually have TWO stalls that are adjacent to each other! Available September 1st. We are a low key, drama free community. There is a wonderful, supportive vibe, and I am quite protective of it. I will be VERY particular about who boards here, I will require references and I will check them. If that sounds like an environment that would suit you and your horse, PM me. All breeds and disciplines welcome.

Something I hear quite often from students and owners is that some of their family and friends tell them that horseback riding is such a waste of money. I realize that the economy isn't great right now, and I'm definitely not saying that horses are inexpensive. Trust me, I know the cost very, very well!!! But, when you see people smiling, genuinely smiling, like this, you can see the value. I see these kinds of smiles pretty much daily. In lessons, when a student accomplishes something that they have been working on. When they move up to a more challenging horse. At first shows. During a first ride. First time trotting. Cantering. These smiles are priceless. We NEED things in our lives that bring smiles that reach our eyes!!!

It has been several years since we took students to a show. Today, we took 4 over to Sweet Release Equestrian Center for their schooling fundraiser show. This was the first off-property show for all four of these horse and rider combos. They all behaved so very well! Gelato and Flakes had some big feeling in their first classes, but Alyssa and Lydia rode confidently and patiently through and got them very nicely settled by their second classes and started placing higher by their third and fourth classes. Dragon was a former pacer in Standardbred racing, and Tracey has worked extremely hard on his trotting consistency and today proved it. The judge even complimented his extended trot! Berry and Caitlin rode wonderfully and consistently and took reserve champion in their division!! Congratulations to all, you did an exceptional job today!!!! Thank you Nick for trailering us! And thank you to the family members that came out to support the riders in todays adventure!!! And thank you Jolene for putting on such a supportive, inviting show!!!

Today, we took a small field trip over to a neighboring horse farm with some of our horses, boarders and students. They will be hosting a fundraiser show this coming Sunday and these horses and riders are planning to attend. None of these horse and rider combos have ever ridden in a show, so this was just a nice, lil outing to help everyone relax a bit before Sunday. Come out to Sweet Release Equestrian Center to cheer on all the participants!!! Thank you Jolene Hasseler for letting us invade your farm this morning!!! And thank you Nick and Alyssa for getting us there and back home safely!!!

Aside from putting together our super cool routine (see other post!!), the girls also learned about round penning, lunging, how to take a horses vitals, wrap legs, names of body parts, hoof trimming, teeth, sheath cleaning, and daily horse maintenance and care, along with some fun crafts. And they got to drive the tractor too! Here are some pictures I did manage to take...

I'm so proud of my camp girls! They put this together in about 4 hours of riding time. AudreyAnna had never even ridden Hank before this week, Lizzy had only been on Reina 3 or 4 times prior, and Cait and Lydia have only just started to do group canter work. And we invited their friends and family to come and watch a live performance of their routine. Berry had a lil stage fright at the beginning, there was a pretty good crowd of people to the right of the camera angle, but he got settled in and they all did an amazing job.

There will be a second post with all of the pictures I did manage to take during the camp.

To all of our neighbor, I apologize if you have heard our practice sessions going on over the week and now have Let It Go stuck in your head!!!! 🤣

Today, we started our full day summer camp. I really am horrible about taking pictures, but here is a couple. One of them relaxing after doing the morning barn work and the other during their warm up. In the comments is a video of them doing some fun drill team stuff. They are at multiple levels of riding, so this is a fun way to incorporate everyone, while working on teamwork, precision riding, and awareness.

Can we talk about business hours? Sadly, I just had to configure my Do Not Disturb settings on my phone and turn it on. Over the last few months, I have received several texts WELL beyond normal business hours from people interested in boarding or lessons. One of them was at nearly 11pm and it woke me up. Needless to say, I was a bit angry. And I ended up turning that person away. I had other reason behind my decision, but that was the nail in the coffin. To me, it just screams "I do not respect your time." I understand that people work wonky hours and need to type messages when they have the time, but thanks to technology, you can set a timer for when that text actually sends. Business owners have lives of their own and precious sleep schedules that they need to keep in order to serve you at their best.
