A little look back at our Going Away Open Mat for Elizabeth & Julius last weekend. 🤙🏼

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped make the day so special for them. With 11+ gyms represented, it was really cool to see how many friends from across the BJJ community came together to help send them off.

Elizabeth & Julius have been great friends and supporters of SHC BJJ NOVA, and they’ll always have a place on our mats.

We’ll miss having them nearby, but it’s not goodbye, just see you later. We wish them nothing but the best on their new adventure! 💜

SCHEDULE UPDATE - AUGUST 2026 🚨

With summer coming to an end, our weekly schedule at SHC BJJ NOVA has been updated! 🥋

Our Women’s Gi Class is paused for now due to a change in facility availability, but we hope to bring it back in the future! 💜

In the meantime, SHC BJJ NOVA is and always will be a safe and welcoming place for women to train. You’ll find female coaches and training partners in our regular adult classes every week. 💪🏼

Our current schedule includes:
• Adult Gi classes
• Adult No Gi classes
• Kids Gi classes
• Homeschool Kids Gi classes
• Saturday Open Mat (Gi & No Gi welcome, all affiliations welcome, always free)

Whether your goal is competition, fitness, self-defense, or finding a great community, we’ve got classes for you. 👏🏼

Join us for a special Going Away Open Mat as we celebrate two dear friends of our community, Elizabeth and Julius, before they move away and begin their next chapter in life. 🤍

What a weekend at the IBJJF Virginia International Open 2026 🔥

Proud of every single athlete who stepped on the mats representing our team. Whether it was your first IBJJF tournament or you’re a seasoned competitor, it takes guts to test yourself. Win or lose, showing up is always a victory.

Big thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend happen. Every round in the academy, every training partner, every coach, and every teammate plays a role in these moments. We all grow together.

Shoutout to Professor Samuel for leading from the front and putting his game to the test in the absolute division, bringing home two gold medals. That’s the standard, keep challenging yourself and trust the process.

🇺🇸 Independence Day Weekend Open Mat 🇺🇸

What an incredible afternoon on the mats!

We had 30+ people representing 10+ different gyms for an awesome afternoon of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, great training, and even better community.

Thank you to everyone who came out and made it such a fun event. We love bringing together grapplers from across the area, regardless of affiliation. And of course, there was plenty of post-training pizza for anyone who wanted to grab a slice before heading out. 🍕🤙

We hope everyone had a fun and safe Independence Day weekend and enjoyed time with friends and family.

Starting June 16, we’re excited to launch our Women’s Only Gi Class led by Coach Diana.

These small-group sessions focus on fundamentals, self-defense, strategy, and building confidence in a supportive training environment. Whether you’re stepping onto the mats for the first time or looking to sharpen your skills, this class is designed to help you grow.

📅 Tuesdays
⏰ 7:15–8:00 PM (immediately before Adult Gi Class)
🥋 Gi Required

Designed as a supplement to our regular training program, this class gives women an additional opportunity to focus on fundamentals, ask questions, and build confidence before joining the Adult Gi Class immediately afterward.
