Got too busy to post updates after hot laps. Here is night 1 of Eastern Storm from Grandview summery ⬇️
Time trialed 18th/25 cars which started us POLE of heat 3. Was able to come home 3rd after battling with my non wing idol and friend Robert Ballou and holding off eventual race winner and USAC champ Kyle Cummins. That was one of the best handling non wing cars I’ve sat in and glad the changes from time trials helped.
However, for the A main, they revert back to time trials so we started the A main in 17th. Was running in the 16th position on lap 21 when the fuel pump came out of the clamp on the power steering pump, causing the engine to shut off. With no mule, tools, or guaranteed time in the work area, our night was done. Credited with 20th DNF.
We will assess it more tomorrow morning to make sure we didn’t break a cam spud, and that the sudden loss of power didn’t tweak anything in the engine and post an update on our plans.
