With excellent course conditions, outstanding playability, and plenty of great competition, 2026 was a memorable year of golf at Hound Ears.

Our members had an incredible time at last week’s cooking class where Nick Davis demonstrated the process of making purple-basil pasta entirely from scratch. Enjoy this taste of the magic!

There’s no Hound Ears without the hounds! 🐕

This week we had the pleasure of hosting the Second Chance Classic golf tournament, benefitting Watauga Humane Society!

The Watauga Humane Society helps provide shelter, medical care, enrichment, and adoption services for approximately 1,700 animals each year. We are proud to assist in their mission to help our furry friends!

We made it to the top! 🗻

Our last group hike of the season was a major success! This month, Hound Ears Members embarked on a 5.2-mile journey through the Flat-Top Mountain trail. Starting at Moses Cone Manor, the path led our hikers through beautiful views of autumn forests, a meadow, and the historical Cone Cemetery. At the top stood a 40-foot-tall fire tower that provided an unforgettable 360-degree view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Congratulations to our hikers on their successful journey! Another huge thank you to all who hiked with us this season! 👏

Music is good for the soul! 🎼

For our final Speaker Series of the season, App State’s Dr. Adam Kossler took us on a musical journey through the golden age of guitar, where Members were treated to a repertoire of classical favorites from Spain, Venezuela, Argentina, and the US.

Dr. Adam Kossler directs the guitar program at Appalachian State University. Throughout his career, he has secured top honors in numerous prestigious national and international competitions and has released multiple guitar records.

Thank you Adam Kossler and Appalachian State University for hosting a concert to remember! 👏

Another year of our Frank & Kay Golf Classic is in the books! ⛳

This week we continued an annual golf tradition while benefiting the Hospitality House of Northwest NC.

Our members played through a hole-in-one contest, closest-to-the-pin contests, then came together to celebrate the community with prizes and on-course refreshments. With the help of our wonderful staff, we finished the evening with a silent auction and catered cocktail awards ceremony.

We may be saying goodbye to the fall season, but not to the good vibes! 🎶

This year’s Fall Farewell was a night to remember…Following a delicious dinner by our culinary team, our members danced the night away to a live set by the MVP band. We shared laughs, memories, and ushered out the autumn in style. 🍁

No one has to go through Breast Cancer alone. 💗

Last week we hosted our Evening of Elegance, a special fundraising event benefiting the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation (High Country Breast Cancer Foundation) and held in honor of all who have been impacted.

Following an extravagant dinner and live harp music, we had the pleasure of hearing from Irene Sawyer, founder of the High Country Breast Cancer Foundation, and Mikalla Presnell, our Human Resources Director. Both of these brave women are survivors of Breast Cancer. Thank you for sharing your courageous journeys with us and for your dedication to patients, survivors, and their families.

We also raised money for the HCBCF through donations and an auction of paintings by Williamsburg artist, Bob Oller (Bob Oller). The following members brought home the paintings:

At this year’s POA Neighborhood Potluck, our members and residents greeted the Fall season with tasty food and toe-tapping guitar tunes by guitarist and vocalist, Bob Bonnen. 🎼

Thank you to all who came out and shared their favorite recipes with the community! We would also like to thank our dining and events team for bringing the classic taste of Hound Ears cuisine to everyone!

When Mother Nature has a story to tell, we are called to listen. 🗻🌲

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting Stephan Dragisic and Gabe Wilson-Rhodes from the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum for our latest Speaker Series event.

Together we celebrated America’s 250th Anniversary by exploring the landscapes that make our country the beautiful place that we call home. We also had the opportunity to learn more about the mission of the Blowing Rock Art and History Museum to preserve local art and history.
