Time for a little clowning around on the course! 🤡💗

For this week's HEWGA Member-Member, our ladies put a little “silly in their swing” by dressing up circus-style for the first day and in all things pink on the second in support of the High-Country Breast Cancer Foundation.

Congratulations to our overall champions.....Sherry Morganstein and Lesley Barnes.

We also got the chance to celebrate a few birthdays followed by a special presentation to our Clubhouse Manager, Rhys Williams. In celebration of his seventh year as a US citizen, an American flag was flown in his honor at the Capitol! Rhys was gifted with that very flag. 👏

Thank you to our wonderful Hound Ears Women’s Golf Association for showing up for a great cause. Another huge thank you to our organizers, golf, and dining staff for their help!

🎉Congratulations to all who are now CPR Certified!

Last week, the FOSCOE Fire Department helped us host a CPR training session. We appreciate their help in teaching our community valuable, lifesaving first aid, and we give our additional thanks to Libba Gaither & Anne Rodman for their support in coordinating this event! ❤️

👏We raised $289,000 towards a mobile MRI!

🎾⛳Thank you to all who came to our 25th Annual Hound Ears Open on August 15th. We had a record number of golfers and attendees this year!

We extend our gratitude to the many people who made this day a success! Our thanks go to Libba Gaither, Mac Parrott, the Hound Ears Open Committee, the Appalachian Healthcare Foundation of UNC Health Appalachian, and our Golf, Racquet Sports, and Dining teams. We also wish to thank the very talented William Mangum for his beautiful artwork and contribution to this event.

Over these last few months, we’ve recently had the pleasure of hosting several engaging lecturers through App State Presents, and we are incredibly grateful to our local professors for sharing their time and expertise with our community.

We extend our appreciation to:
• Dr. Harry Davis for his talk on “The Present State of the Economy”
• Dr. Timothy Silver for “Death in Briar Bottom: The True Story of Hippies, Mountain Lawmen, and the Search for Justice in the Early 1970s”
• Dr. Karl Campbell for “NC: First in Freedom”

Over the course of these presentations, we were offered a fascinating look into our past, present, and future. Thank you for enriching our community!

🎉 What a fantastic week of golf and great company at Hound Ears! ⛳

Congratulations to the Elves on their exciting 6–5 victory over the Reindeers in this year's HEWGA Challenge! Thank you to everyone who participated and made this friendly competition so much fun. Be sure to check out the photos of both our 18-holers and 9-holers decked out in their festive red and green!

We also want to congratulate our HEWGA Member-Guest Overall Champions, Carolyn Baumel and Linda Chabrier, on an outstanding tournament win and to everyone who topped the charts in every category (including our event organizer, Cheryl Deavers)! 🏆

This year's patriotic theme, "Red, White & Birdie," brought plenty of spirit, laughter, and memorable moments both on and off the course. Thank you to all of our members, guests, golf staff and dining staff for making every part of the week a wonderful and memorable time. We can't wait to do it again next year!

July was an exciting month on the courts, beginning with our Fourth of July Tennis Round Robin and followed by the Pickleball Mountain Round Robin. Both events brought members together for spirited competition, great sportsmanship, and plenty of fun as we celebrated the holiday and the height of the summer season.

A major highlight of the month was the Sixth Annual Grieco Senior Invitational, a prestigious multi-day senior men's doubles tournament sponsored by the National Senior Men's Tennis Association (NSMTA). Internationally recognized player Noble Hendrix, working alongside our Racquet Sports Team, welcomed an outstanding field of competitors to Hound Ears. Players traveled from South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, and across North Carolina to compete in the 70, 75, and 80 age divisions, showcasing an impressive level of skill, sportsmanship, and camaraderie throughout the tournament.

As we move further into the summer, our tennis and pickleball programs continue to offer something for everyone from competitive match play and organized events to casual games with friends. Whether you're a longtime player or looking to pick up a racquet for the first time, we invite you to join us on the courts and be part of the vibrant racquet sports community that makes Hound Ears such a special place.

What an incredible week at Hound Ears! ⛳✨

From the Men's Member-Guest Tournament to the Ladies Luncheon and our Awards Dinner, it was a week filled with great golf, wonderful company, and unforgettable memories.

Congratulations to Mac Parrot and Bob Fischgrund for winning the overall!

A heartfelt thank you to Boone Photo Booth for capturing all the fun at our Awards Dinner and giving everyone memories to take home.

We'd also like to recognize our outstanding Golf and Dining Teams, whose hard work, attention to detail, and dedication helped make every event a success. We are so grateful for everything they do behind the scenes.

A very special thank you to the Broce's for their countless hours of planning and organizing such a fantastic Member-Guest experience. Your efforts made this week truly exceptional.

Gorgeous skies and a lovely 78° welcomed the opening of our 2026 Men's Member-Guest Golf Tournament at Hound Ears Club. It's a full field and the perfect day for birdies, pars, and memorable moments on the course.

Most importantly, it's a day filled with camaraderie, friendly competition, and plenty of fun. Wishing all of our members and guests a fantastic tournament and an unforgettable week ahead!

Red, White & Blue Never Looked So Good! 🎆

What an unforgettable Fourth of July weekend at Hound Ears!

The festivities were packed with fun from start to finish as members and their families gathered to celebrate together. We cheered on our favorite ducks during the annual Duck Races, admired the creativity and spirit on display during the festive Golf Cart Decorating Contest, and capped off the evening with a spectacular fireworks show lighting up the mountain sky.

From laughter shared with friends to friendly competition, patriotic pride, and traditions that bring generations together, this weekend was a wonderful reminder of what makes Hound Ears such a special place.

Thank you to everyone who participated, decorated and helped make this holiday one to remember. We hope you enjoyed every moment, and we can't wait to see you at the next Club event!
