Athletes always ask me what the best leg exercise is…
For me it’s the Hatfield (safety bar) split squat with a 7-second negative — and when we stack it with a banded single-leg reverse hyper oscillatory, it takes athletic development to another level.
Why this combo works for athletes:
🔥 Single-leg strength – every sport happens one leg at a time (sprinting, cutting, jumping).🔥 Eccentric force absorption – the 7-second negative teaches the body how to decelerate and control force, which protects knees and hips.🔥 Posterior chain power – the banded single-leg reverse hyper lights up glutes, hamstrings, and lower back.🔥 Oscillatory tension – the band creates constant tension and rapid stabilization demands the nervous system loves.🔥 Injury resistance – strengthens stabilizers around the hips, knees, and spine.
Triphasic principle:Control force → absorb force → produce force.
That’s how you build faster, stronger, more resilient athletes.
