I have a lot to say about last Saturday's event, and trust me, I absolutely will.
But until then, I want to make something absolutely clear once and for all.
1. Fusion Fight League does not control the judges, referees, or timekeeper. They are under the jurisdiction of the Comission, just like any other sanctioned promotion, including the UFC. Any educated fight fan should know this by now. I / we, as the promotion, had no motive, desire, or ability to alter any outcomes.
We choose to bring in the commission specifically for unbiased third-party oversight for the safety and fairness for all fighters. If a fighter has a disagreement, they have every right to file a formal protest and if it is supported by the rule set, it will be overturned.
The referee who is independent from the promotion makes the decision whether or not to stop a fight and they do the best job they can under extremely rapidly evolving circumstances. Every decision made is centered around fighter safety. These people do the very best job they can and people need to remember that they are human beings too.
The fight was stopped when the rain started and the cage floor became slippery. The fight was not allowed to restart until the rain was completely done and the cage floor was completely dry.
Both Fighters were given the option and both chose to move forward. There were absolutely no protests made at the time about how or what position the fight was restarted in.
The referee made the decision to stop the fight for reasons that he felt were in the best interest regarding the safety of the fighter. I will be breaking down exactly why this decision was made, and whether you agree with it or not, fighter safety is absolutely the most important thing to me and I support our referees decision 100%. Again I will break down why in a future video and it has nothing to do with who I wanted to win the fight.
But all of this is open to review once a formal protest is presented to the commission. But it can't be an arbitrary complaint. It should be supported based on the rule set of the Wyoming State Athletic Commission, which is the same as the unified rules used by the UFC and just about every other athletic Commission for MMA. I cannot guarantee or even predict any outcome, but I am actively trying to work with Sam to get this accomplished.
But some of you need to realize everyone involved was doing the best job they could and any suggestion that any of this was done purposefully or maliciously is just plain wrong, and I don't think anyone reading this would appreciate having unfounded accusations made against them.
Ask questions. Be involved. I love that. But for the good of the sport, let's be respectful and treat each other the way we would all want to be treated, and allow time for a fair and peaceful resolution. This is an opportunity for a learning experience for everyone including myself. But I won't give rude or disrespectful comments the time of day. Those opinions mean nothing to me if that's the way they are presented. Nobody has any time for trolls. Remember that Unity thing I asked for during the fighter prayer? This is where that starts.

p.s. There will be more from me to follow as things become more clear. I was not able to watch the entire footage until this evening. We have restrictions on the timeline that we release our co-main and main events in their entirety, and we are working on permission from our pay-per-view provider to allow us to post this entire fight earlier than what we normally would be allowed. It will be made available.
