Most people rush through split squats. That’s exactly why they struggle with them.
The goal isn’t to see how fast you can get through your reps.
It’s about control.
When we coach split squats at the gym, we want our members to own every inch of the movement. A slight forward lean, pressure through the middle of the front foot, standing tall with intent, and controlling the descent all the way back down.
Why?
Because the way you lower yourself matters just as much as the way you stand up.
More control = better movement quality, stronger legs, and happier knees.
The truth is, most people are looking for the hardest exercise variation when they should be focused on doing the basics really well first.
Master the movement.
Then earn the progression.
And yes... if you’ve ever done split squats for 10-12 reps per side, you already know that life gets pretty uncomfortable in a hurry. 😅
